    Ceramic tiles on bathroom ceiling

Hi, I'm re-doing the bathroom in my house at the moment and am wondering if it's the done thing to tile the ceiling, or shall I leave well alone? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Nick

Screw head sheared off in kitchen cupboard door

Finally did it! Bought a 1.5 mm HSS drill bit and drilled the remains of the screw out. First I drilled a hole all the way through the screw, then enlarged it until all the metal was gone. Good result, because I got another screw to go in the same place. I'm sure it's not quite as firm...

Screw head sheared off in kitchen cupboard door

Thanks for that, I'll need to think about that....but how about a screw extractor drill bit? I think it may be a bit too fiddly for a small screw.

Screw head sheared off in kitchen cupboard door

Hi, Can anyone tell me how I can extract a screw from a kitchen cupboard door. The screw was for the door hinge and it's a bit wobbly without it. For some reason the head has come off and the rest of the screw is still inside the door. I've tried drilling it out with a hss drill bit...

Honeywell CMT927 7 Day Wireless Controller - Any good ?

Yes, I need to retain the EP2002 for the hot water. So, I don't really need a programmable thermostat, more of an on/off switch. I'd like to spend less that £50 if possible (feeling a bit skint you see).

Wireless Thermostat to work with Potterton EP2002 timer

Hi, I'm looking for a wireless thermostat (as cheap as possible) that will work with a Potterton EP2002 programmable timer. The Potterton timer is hard wired to the boiler's Honeywell junction box with a five core cable. What I would like to do is put in a wireless receiver for a room...

Vaillant Turbomax VUW 242E - inconsistent hot water

I wonder if anyone can help me with a question about the Vaillant Turbomax VUW 242E 282E boiler's ability to heat water and run the central heating. The boiler is in a one bedroom flat and when the central heating is on and the bath is run, the water is at best lukewarm. When water in the...

Wall cavity insulation - good, bad or ugly?

Hmmm...the more I read about it, the more doubts I have. Here's a link to a page which does not recommend it: http://www.askjeff.co.uk/cavity.html It sounds like wall cavity insulation may sometimes cause problems. Not sure whether to believe it though.

Wall cavity insulation - good, bad or ugly?

Hi, I wonder if anyone has an opinion on wall cavity insulation. I live in an end of terrace house built in 1968, which has cavity walls and have been persuaded to have cavity wall insulation put in. A company called Miller Pattison is coming to do it next week. Despite the government...

    Thermostat to replace Potterton EP2002

The VRT360F is about £105 and the VR65 is about £55. Tolerable if I can fit them myself, but not if I have to pay someone another £150 to fit them! I'll probably have a go and see what happens. Hopefully I won't destroy my boiler!

    Thermostat to replace Potterton EP2002

Right apparently a Vaillant VR65 control centre and VTR360F wireless room thermostat will do it. If I bought these items would they be easy to fit, or would I be better off getting an expert to fit them?

    Thermostat to replace Potterton EP2002

That's great news! How do I find out more about the Vaillant and Worcester controllers? Any idea about model numbers and suchlike?

    Thermostat to replace Potterton EP2002

The controller is wired into a Honeywell controll box, which goes into the various hot water tank valves. The whole assembly is in the corner of the room away from any the inside wall. It would be possible to run a wire from the Honeywell box, along the wall in the room, then finally...

    Thermostat to replace Potterton EP2002

Ah, becuase the controller is in a bedroom, which I rent out. So at the moment I have to go into the bedroom to switch the hot water on when I want a shower, which annoys my housemate no end. I don't really want to go to all the hassle of extending the wire for the controller all the way...

    Thermostat to replace Potterton EP2002

You're absolutely right, the EP2002 is a dual channel controller which controls both hot water and space heating. What I need is a wireless controller that controls both the hot water and space heating, but I cannot seem to find anyone who sells one. Does such a product exist?

    Thermostat to replace Potterton EP2002

Hi, I wonder if anyone could tell me if there is any way I can easily replace a Potterton EP2002 central heating control with a remote control thermostat which I can put in the living room? The Potterton control is wired into a Honeywell 42002116-001 box. Thanks everyone. Nick
