Electric oven not switching off and tripping RCD

Thanks for your advice chaps. I have someone coming out Monday to look over everything. If that's all ok and the oven is the issue, I'll see if it's repairable or whether I skip it and get a new one.

Advice replacing old negative head pump

I've just tested them, and all outlets are at least 1.5L/m so hopefully that's fine. In looking at a quick comparisson of the pump prices, I notice that the ST Single Monsoon 3bar is only £6 more than the 2bar. Will 3bar (or indeed 4.5bar) give a bit more "oomph" or is that just over-kill and...

Great, thanks. I'll give that a go and test the flow rate and see how it is.

Advice replacing old negative head pump

Thanks for your reply Madrab. The pump is currently at the base of the cylinder (airing cupboard in upstairs main bathroom). The flow from the outlets is adequate to get by without the pump, but upstairs it takes an age to fill a bath for example, or downstairs even a bowl for washing up in the...

Electric oven not switching off and tripping RCD

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the oven is on a dedicated circuit with its own MCB. It wasn't this that tripped though, it was the RCD next to it. I don't know enough about the difference between the two to know what this means though. Here's a photo of my unit with the one that tripped shown...

Advice replacing old negative head pump

Hi all, My hot water pump has given up the ghost, so I need to replace it, but looking for a bit of advice as what replacement to go with. This is how my system is set up: I have a cold tank in the loft, a Main System 18 HE boiler in the kitchen supplying hot water to a cylinder in the airing...

Electric oven not switching off and tripping RCD

Hi all, I'm experiencing an issue with my oven which I hope someone can help with. It's an AEG B8871-4-M built-in electric oven. I cooked a spot of lunch earlier (maple pork belly slices...very nice indeed) and after it was done turned it off as usual. 10 minutes later the RCD tripped, and I...

    Name that fixing...

Hi all. I'm looking for a specific type of fixing, and I can't find it anywhere as I have no idea what it would be called. It's essentially a double-headed bolt. It comes as a pair and you have one with a thread on the inside and one with a thread on the outside. They screw into each other, so...

Rigifix vs Dryline Pro vs Wall Anka

I was thinking a squirt of resin followed by a long plug would be pretty solid. Probably a bit of a bodge job though, right?!

Rigifix vs Dryline Pro vs Wall Anka

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't thought about using chemical/resin. Once of the curtain poles is going into a pretty tough lintel so I might need to go that route if I can't get a good fixing.

Rigifix vs Dryline Pro vs Wall Anka

OK, thanks. Are there any issues with the plasterboard being pulled towards the blockwork with that?

Rigifix vs Dryline Pro vs Wall Anka

Hi all, hope this is posted in the right place. Moved into a house that has dot & dab walls, so I've been looking into the best kind of fixings I can use to mount curtain poles, tv's, etc. I've done a fair bit of reading about Rigifix and Dryline Pro, and it seems to come down to personal...

Advice for moving ceiling light fitting

I think my curiosity will get the better of me and I'll give that a go.

Advice for moving ceiling light fitting

Thanks for the advice. I was torn between patching it and making it look neat, and future-proofing and retaining access for me (or anyone else in future) that might need it. I was leaning towards the neatness, partly because I'm not sure what the wife would say about having an unused rose sat...

Advice for moving ceiling light fitting

Hello all. I'm looking for a bit of advice and hoping someone will be able to confirm (or shoot down in flames) what I think is the best way moving a ceiling light fitting. Here's my situation - I've just moved into a new house, there is an integral garage that has had the back third converted...
