Lighting MCB on CU works when 'off' and not when 'on'? pics

ok thanks. Should I change the odd make the electrician used (probably as he couldn't get original ones) for genuine Siemens? Is it acceptable to buy secondhand mcbs on ebay like this one...

Lighting MCB on CU works when 'off' and not when 'on'? pics

the middle pic. 'blank' Number 6 (though there are two 6's!) and 5. One is up, one is down. But if both systems (i.e. lighting and washing machine) are operating properly, surely one of them is wrong!!

Lighting MCB on CU works when 'off' and not when 'on'? pics

OK about 3 years ago we had a kitchen extension done (all properly and signed off etc). But, while I'm looking at my CU re my other thread about running a cable to my shed, I've noticed that one of the MCBs on the CU is unmarked, and appears to (somehow) work in reverse! By turning...

recommend me a CU for my shed pls

the electrician told me to buy a 32amp one for the house, which I have done. (I had trouble finding a Siemens one!). The compressor doesn't actually pull anything like 32amp but it's meant to be run from a 32 amp supply. According to the instruction booklet (looking at it now) it says the...

recommend me a CU for my shed pls

Hi I've run a 25 metre length of 6.0mm 6943X 3 core SWA Steel Armoured Cable from my CU in the house (under the stairs) to my shed. I plan to run a lighting circuit; ring circuit; and a single dedicated 32 amp mcb for my compressor in the shed. I've read of difficulties people have when...

TO change a boiler do you have to be a CP / Gas Safe ?

I'm having an argument on another forum. I think you have to be a 'competent person' on a recognised scheme, or a Gas Safe registered. If you are not a member of a CP scheme, then building controls is notifiable, yes? They claim that being a 'competent person' simply means asking the right...

Is this commercial board acceptable for industrial use?

ps Can I have the incoming electricity split into two supplies - one single phase and one three phase? The reason I ask is because I already have some equipment that is single phase, but if I could also buy some three phase equipment it would give me more options for other equipment. thanks

Is this commercial board acceptable for industrial use?

OK I don't understand most of that - but thanks anyway :) So are you all basically saying it has 3-phase coming in, and then only one phase is connected and actually used? I haven't rented the place yet it's one I'm considering. I only say it was single phase as that's what the old asian...

Is this commercial board acceptable for industrial use?

I'm looking into starting a light motor vehicle business. One of the properties (a warehouse) has this electricity board in it. I just want to check that it looks (roughly) suitable in your opinions for the purpose of running various machines like compressor; lifts; tyre machines; small lathe...

    LED floodlights. - Any good??

They're meant to be much cheaper to run of course, which is the main advantage in my book. But, I've never seen one in working conditions (ie actually fitted to a property and used in real life). So, are they any good does anyone know? It's meant to only draw 3 watts according to the ad (ebay...
