    Boiler Cycling

So this morning the boiler is sat at 23 deg C and does no appear to be cycling. So perhaps shutting it off for 12 hours fixed the problem???

Thanks for the info. I am learning quite a lot about how the system works. Before you replied to this thread I had no idea at all!

    Boiler Cycling

Hi again, Looking again today, the pipe thermostat is actually set to 30 deg C not 60 deg C. The Yellow marker at the top confused me, but at the bottom there is a little arrow, which shows the setting. The boiler is in a cold area, it is inside a separate outside boiler room, not in the main...

    Boiler Cycling

Thanks for the info. I have no idea what yhe pipe stat set to 60 does. The boiler system is a bit of a mystery to me. Could this high setting be the problem??

    Boiler Cycling

Hi Stem, Thanks for taking the time to reply. In answer to some of your questions. 1) I am not sure if the system has always done this or not. I only moved-in in October and only recently noticed the behaviour as I was sleeping in a room next to the boiler room. It is possible that...

    Boiler Cycling

Hi all, I have an odd problem with my boiler that I am not sure how to resolve. I have a Worcester Bosch boiler, a CDI 40 Conventional. The boiler provides central heating (control by a thermostat in the house) and hot water. Both are also controlled by a timer system. The house has two hot...

    Solar Heating Question

To close this thread off, my system has now been serviced. The expansion tank was replaced, the pressure release value was replaced - previously it operated at 2 bar, and is now set at 6 bar. The system has also be refilled and re-pressurised and seems to be working well now!

    Solar Heating Question

Thanks. I had a chat with the engineer and he is going to come next week, replace the expansion tank and recharge the system. Should be all sorted in a few days.

    Solar Heating Question

Should the system be at 2.0 bar all of the time? Even when cloudy outside?

    Solar Heating Question

Thanks. The install is in the loft against an inside wall, which is why the may have taken the easy option. Finally found someone to come out next week and take a look at it. Today under sunny conditions the dials are showing 95 degrees and 40 degrees and the system pressure is at 1.5 bar (up...

    Solar Heating Question

So far six companies in and around Devizes called... and all say that they no longer do Solar Thermal. Slowly getting stumped for finding an Engineer!

    Solar Heating Question

Having just found a paper copy of some instructions it does indeed confirm the diagnosis that the pressure relief valve has operated and that the expansion vessel is likely to be the fault. The odd thing is, is that the controller for the system still indicates that water is still being cycled...

    Solar Heating Question

Thanks I think I do need a solar guy! I would like to understand the problem a little first however, just be sure that I dont get fleeced :p Next newbie question. Would the dial read zero pressure when it is not heating water? Or should it always indicate some pressure?

    Solar Heating Question

Thanks for the info. Do the dials in the picture look to be in the normal range (if such a thing exists)? I guess i need to try to find the installation manual and trouble shooting guide, presuming there will be one online!

    Solar Heating Question

Hi, This is hopefully a simple question for someone in the know! My house has a solar water heating system and in the loft the system has a short pipe that goes into a large blue container (see pictures). The blue container is half full with a clear liquid (presumably water?). My questions...

    Wet, Yellow, Smelly

I have looked in my loft areas and can only find one tank. This is a big black plastic tank that looks like a sealed unit. See pictures below.
