15mm plastic heating pipes behind skirting ??

Hi, My kitchen with a concrete floor is proving to be a pain in the ass as I want to fit a radiator in there however it will only fit on one small wall. I have decided that I would rather not rip up the laminate and chase out concrete so i took off the skirting and chased a chanel in behind...

    Uneven upstairs floorboards

WoodYouLike, would there be any problems if i was to lay thick (say 18mm) ply ontop of the boards? its 4 or 5 boards together that are thinner, and the rest is just generally uneven, broken where thwy have been lifted previously. pippo

    Uneven upstairs floorboards

Hi, A few months ago i gathered info from here about the unevenness of my ground floor floorboards. I used 6mm ply wood on top and the floor is looking nice and even now. I am now moving onto the upstairs, up here unfortunately the floorboards are very uneven, some look newish and must...

    pipe clips?

What about the plastic clips used for 40mm waste pipe? jobloggs Could be a plan. I suppose 22mm pipe with a 9mm thick insulation would be 40mm so it should work. Can those clips be simply screwed to the joists? wheres best to buy them? pippo

    pipe clips?

I think for cheapness I will use tallon clips n spacers and buy slit lagging and install after the pipes are fixed. With split lagging, do you have to join the slit after its on? and whats best for covering fittings? Some kind of wrap ? pippo

    pipe clips?

JohnD, That does look a little expensive for my poor ass lol. GasGuru, From the picture on that link, the spacers look like they allow room for the insulation against the wall, but it looks like the actual clip size will only allow for the pipe on its own. Or have I got that wrong...

    pipe clips?

hello folks, What is the best way to secure pipes with foam lagging to the under side of joists? I think the lagging for both the 15 and 22 mm pipes have 9mm walls so wouldnt fit in pipe clips. Im fitting the pipes new and would prefer to keep the lagging continuous along the pipes without...

Where to buy fittings and pipe?

Thanks mickyg I have just ordered my kit with screwfix, saved 45 notes on plumbcentre and free delivery but i guess you are right, if i was a regular trader with plumbcentre i would probably get a discount. Unfortunately screwfix dont have a 700 high x 400 wide double convector radiator that...

Where to buy fittings and pipe?

Hi folks, I am about to replace an old microbore system with new plastic 22mm & 15mm pipes. I am planning to use compression fittings as I have had 2 failed pushfits on the bathroom water pipes. This was perhaps an installation fault by the bathroom people and not a fitting fault themselves...

    Central Heating pipes in concrete?

Hello again folks. I discussed in a previous thread that I plan on repiping my old microbore system and was given some great advice. I have now decided that I also want to re-position a radiator in the kitchen as its in a daft place. To be fair, the radiator is there as its a concrete floor...

    Re-plumbing the central heating.

Thanks AM, I had read somewhere that some of the pipe from the boiler had to be copper, it is at the moment and i will leave that section in. Its 22mm anyway. With regards to the earth bonding, I will have to run an earth to all the radiators. There is no earth bonding at each radiator at the...

    Re-plumbing the central heating.

Sam, Many thanks for your reply. Very helpful indeed. There is a copper pipe going through the exterior wall from the boiler as you described. The trvs do have only 1 arrow on them that I can see so I will place them on the feed side to be sure. There is no thermostat at the moment however...

    Re-plumbing the central heating.

Hi folks, A few months ago we had a worcester bosch 28i junior boiler fitted which was replacing a back boiler system. The heating side was fitted to the old microbore pipework. I have noticed that the pipes to each rad which get hot first (I presume these are feed pipes) do not go to the trv...

    Fitting new bathroom

Yeah it may just be worth paying the extra money to get the job done smoothly. Its a pity as i know a good plasterer, tiler and a spark. (not sure if the part p applies up here in Scotland or not). Annoyingly I dont know a plumber and i guess it will be him/her that needs to make the most...
