twin entry valve. verycommon. if you pull valve away from rad you will see there is a piece of copper 8/10mm that goes from the valve into the rad by 12 to 18inches. these systems have some draw backs they can be difficult to balance and you cant powerflush them.

right. so pilot is lit the fan runs? when fan runs it switches air pressure swithch the gas valve should then get 240volts and open up main gas. Did you have to re light the pilot today?

right this could be a number of things. first of all where does the condense pipe terminate? outside to a drain or inside to waste? is this blocked/ frozen up? also what happens when you reset boiler?

multimeter. put it on ohms resistance. put one probe one end and the other at the other end. you should get same reading as what you get when you put two probes together. if you get no reading or OL there is a breakage in the wire.

probably frost protection. they will come on when it gets below a certain temp (think its 10 degrees or somthing, higher than you would think) and circulates some heat to stop itself getting too cold.
