THe equation to work out a rad size is: Height of room X Width of room X Lenght of room Divided by 20. This will give you what you need in Kw. If you want to convert Kw to Btu 1kw= 3412 btu.

    Hot Water Flow

Nope i know what your problem is. You fitted you own bathroom and i bet you used flexi hoses. The cold will be ok as it is under mains pressure. HOwever, the hot is more than likely under gravity pressure. In short rip out the flexi and put some 15mm copper in place.

On some boilers they have a water pressure switch that has a rubber diaphram in the unit. I will bet you pound to a penny it is either gone brittle or split. Hence the reason it may work sometimes but not always.

to be honest there is usually very little you can do. I would concur with the chap that said you should add some sentinel into the system. However, if the heat exchanger is blocked up there is very little you can do. You could try powerflushing but there are no guarantees.

Valor Visage gas fire- still won't stay lit

Yeah i would concur with that. You see the thermacouple sits in the flame and creates a millivoltage. this then holds the magnet in the gas valve which keeps the gas ways open. If the magnet in the valve has lost its magnetism it wont keep the gasways open.

    Which pipe is the best

Obviously when running any pipe from the boiler you must for the first meter run them in copper. I usually run 22mm flow and returns across the landing and tee off to rads in 15mm. Never go under 15mm it causes no end of problems. If money is a problem don't use plastic. It is expensive and i...

3 things cause that problem. Either a blocked cold feed, the vent pipe doesn't go 18 inch (450,,) over the tank or the pump is set to high. Firstly check your pump. if it is set too high turn it down. If this seems normal open a radiator vent and if it fails to thrash water out at you, you...

However, if it is the system which is causing the noise yes it may pay to put some sort of inhibitor into the system. Don't feel daft for asking how you administer it...
