    Backflow & RPZ valves

Hi, I've just had a letter at work from the local water supply company about a forthcoming inspection. The building I'm in is late 60's early 70's and doesn't seem to have check valves fitted to the toilet cisterns or any of the taps, will double chck valves need fitting to these? I do...

    cutting out holes in mdf

The MDF I've got is 18mm. I managed to have a look at a couple of panels which are like the ones in the link and would say that the board that has been used was 9mm so maybe I could have got thinner sheets. And yes the corners are radiused, couldn't see any sign of sealer on the cut...

    cutting out holes in mdf

Thanks for the replies, I've ordered the MDF already :( but the ones you can buy are all mdf so I don't see it being a problem, I looked at ply but the splinter issue put me off. I've got a router so I'll probably use that to cut the holes out once I've made a template to cut round. Adam

Advice Sought For Routing Soild Wood Worktops

Hi, I'm going to fitting some Rubberwood worktops, I'd like to round off the edges and put a radius on the corners of the wood. Can I just check which bits I should be using, for rounding off the edges I take it I should use a "rounding over bit" I see they come in different sizes any...

    Replacing flourescent tubes

The tubes I use are daylight corrected, the last time I ordered some I was told that they are no longer being produced hence the interest in changing them (plus it's a pain storing spare tubes) At this stage I'm just trying to get some info before calling in an electrician for a quote, though...

Poorly insulated loft that has been boarded over

Thanks again Deluks, Think I'll put down fibreglass over the half that I don't use as it's the least expensive and celotex and more boards on the half I do use. Do i just lay the chipboard over the celotex with no fixings? Adam

    Bl**dy cork floor tiles...

I had a large wall that covered in cork tiles, I scrapped them off and then went over the wall with a hot air gun to remove the adhesive, a very long job! Probably quicker to replace your ply floor I would think.

Poorly insulated loft that has been boarded over

Thanks Deluks, I'm starting to wish I never looked in the loft at all lol. I only have a collection of cardbord boxes in the loft at the moment, so weight isn't really a problem. Can I put insulation over the boards without taking them up, as I only need access to half the loft anyway or...
