    boiler pilot light

yes possibly but when i had it on, the fan was running although rough and not at the right speed but the pump did nothing no noise or vibration at all totally dead even when i ran water or heating nothing, so maybe the ignition is screwed hence why it will only light with a flame ie manually the...

    boiler pilot light

I see the fan is running but very creaky and sounds like its sticking so thats maybe why it lights with a torch but once running it runs really rough and not to the right speed, the pump is not running at all as there is no vibration to the touch so looks like they were right on that its toast...

    boiler pilot light

I see i thought only the pump would run for central heating to pump the water around and not for hotwater ok so 2 faults then one the fan which is goosed and getting stuck and 2 the pump. will look into how much i can get a pump for or sack it off and get a new one. But equally i don't...

    boiler pilot light

I appreciate every one's help and Yes i've been recommended one by a friend but for knowledge sake could a faulty fan prevent hot water as i'm sure the pump only works when central heating is initiated no ? so if a fan is faulty and spinning to the right voltage the boiler would say no fan...

    boiler pilot light

final question, if the fan is spinning intermittently and not at full speed would this prevent hot water and/or heating ? it spins but not going at full speed sounds like its missing like a car would.

  12. S

    boiler pilot light

exactly i don't think it is the water pump, they never checked the flume fan and its rattling, creaking and getting stuck like hell, if they were that good at diagnosing why did they not tell me the flume fan also needs replacing ? while i turn the boiler on the green led on the pcb is clicking...

    boiler pilot light

My instinct was right, i switched it on and the flume fan spins making a croaking creaking noise spins faster and faster and then stops dead like it gets stuck. so looks like this is the fault.

    ok i understand is £480 a reasonable quote ?

    boiler pilot light

They took £65 from me for diagnostic and then they quoted £480 which includes pump, draining the system and the labour. I'm just going off what they told me, said the pump was seized and when he turned it using pliers it made a grinding noise, what more can i say they have good reviews online...

no i think its a friendly format 80, i definately see no flash or spark through the window, so i'm thinking its the electrode.

    boiler pilot light

got someone coming round tomorrow, but just to say when i look through the little window i am supposed to see a flash or something aren't i when it's trying to light up ? is that right as i hear it clicking but see nothing not a flash or spark or nothing.
