Gravity Fed - Rads Hot with HW Demand

I've posted a pic up of the setup. Not sure if it is very clear at all but see what you think. Thanks

Gravity Fed - Rads Hot with HW Demand

Thanks for all the replies guys. Can anyone explain why when the valve by the hot water tank is set to manual the boiler immediately fires up??? Thanks

Gravity Fed - Rads Hot with HW Demand

It's more for understanding at present as the problem is not beyond control yet. I think I need to get round there to try & work out for myself how it is all working.

Gravity Fed - Rads Hot with HW Demand

Sorry being a bit lazy here but on searching high n low on the forum I cannot seem to find the answer; plus I am used to combi probs. Friend has a gravity system in which when HW is demand his rads get hot. Now he has been told he can set the valve to manual at the hot water tank, but when...

    Boiler clicking on & off

Just to confirm I've just fired up the central heating which is completely fine & does not suffer from this problem. In hot water mode it is almost like the boiler keeps thinking the water is getting too hot & so shuts off??

    Boiler clicking on & off

Nope I only measured it with the boiler turned off. I can measure it whilst operating if you know what it should be?

    Boiler clicking on & off

Thanks for the reply again. I have checked that & it is fine being below 0.4 as you say. I'm at a loss with it now really...... If it were a gas/combustion issue would that not show with Central Heating also?

    Boiler clicking on & off

Thats fair comment. Are there any electrical tests I can carry out that would let me know what kind of control the boiler is sensing that is making it feel necessary to cycle like it is? Thanks

    Boiler clicking on & off

Right all in all I have now replaced the following & yet the boiler still continues to cycle on & off with HW demand. -Water to water exchange -Diverter Value & diaphragm -Diverter micro switches -DHW sensor The cycling is not occurring at set intervals but is between a couple of...

    Boiler clicking on & off

PS I guess the easiest way to see if it is the micro switches playing up would be to purely short the cables manually and see if the boiler still clicks on/off?

    Boiler clicking on & off

Sorry for the delayed response. I measured the resistance of the hot water sensor with no demand/heat & I get a reading of approx. 1.7kohms; is this correct?

    Boiler clicking on & off

Like an idiot I didn't note down the values but I will check again in the morning. On a side point could micro switches that got wet but were then dried out cause such a problem???

    Boiler clicking on & off

I've just rotted out the manual and found the sensor. I metered it out & all appears to be fine. Small resistance when no demand and then then no resitance when hot water demanded. That is correct yes? I checked the central heating sensor and that behaves in the same manner.

    Boiler clicking on & off

Thanks for the swift reply. What sensor is the DHW one? Is it the one above the pump or the one at the rear of the boiler? Or maybe even another one haha

    Boiler clicking on & off

Hi All WB240RSF in which I have replaced the diverter & DHW heat exchange due to the heat slipping to the central heating circuit when demand for hot water. However during hot water demand the boiler will continually light then go out in a cycle. The water will still get hot but the boiler...

Thanks for the swift response. Does this price include all & any parts, or all certain ones?

Hi All Does anyone know if WB do a fixed price for a call out & repair; & if so roughly how much is it in the SE region? Thanks

WB 240 Water to Water Exchange

I see your point guys, but can you not advise as to what mixture / dilution to use and the method used to perform the cleaning.

WB 240 Water to Water Exchange

Well I am just hoping that I can clean it up so that at least it is in better condition than the one that is currently fitted. I want to keep down time on my boiler to a minimum as it is still working to some extent at the mo, so cleaning up a second hand unit from a boiler that was working just...

WB 240 Water to Water Exchange

Yeah I was under the impression that they could be cleaned. I have alreday used some stronge descaler with boiling water left for hours which got a lot of scum out, but wondered if you guys had any suggestions of chemicals / methods to use? Thanks
