Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

Just to clarify it was not that EON refused to fit the 3 phase into the box, it was that it would not physically fit above the cut out. The installer from EON tried to place the smart 3 phase meter that they fit into the meter box but it was simply too tall due to the extra bit at the top that...

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

EON guy said it was changed due to historical flats having all cut outs in the one place and as you stated people re-energising the system accidentally while the engineer was working in a different room. You would have thought they would just introduce a locked system so it was impossible to...

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

Sorry to hijack the thread  but thought I would update on my OP... EON came out today to fit the 3 phase smart meter only to tell me they could not fit into a single phase box. This is after both Northern Power Grid and EON had told me it should not be a problem. Also after me discussing...

    Residential CCTV Help

Thanks to everyone for your help! Cat5E everywhere it is. Can I ask if this looks like a good deal... £330 for 4MP Olix 16Ch IP CCTV Kit with 8x Motorised Vari-focal PoE Turret Cameras @ https://www.jmcsecure.co.uk/.

    Residential CCTV Help

Further reading I think POE would be preferable so am I correct that this rules out the coax cable and leaves me with the choice of cat5e v cat6. If I had to buy some cat6 I believe it would cost me approx. £100 for a 305m drum which will be more than enough but is it overkill compared to cat6?

    Residential CCTV Help

Thanks for that. :) I have had a look on ipvm, which appears to be a great tool that I knew nothing about, and I think a 4MP would be fine. The Dahua starlight ones seem to get decent reviews. I would like cameras to be able to record image and sound during the day and the night if they detect...

    Residential CCTV Help

Hi all, Hoping for some help with planning my new self build home CCTV system. I am currently doing the first fix and I need to decide on the type of cable I should be fitting. I already have loads of shotgun coax and cat5E cable so ideally would like to use one of these however if using cat6...

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

Good point! Apologies but the OP diagram I uploaded was completely incorrect as my system is actual as John states in his most recent post, PME TN-C-S, therefore no earth rod required. :) With hindsight I would have installed the correct meter box but I only decided to go 3 phase after...

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

Thanks again to everyone for their input, it's very much appreciated.(y) I hopefully now have attained a very basic "rookie" (Adam_151 ;)) knowledge of what I need to discuss with my electrician. Even including understanding how the comments by winston1 and 333rocky333, that I originally thought...

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

Thanks very much for all the input (y), I'll try and respond to all questions in a logical order.... I will but I always like to have multiple opinions about any aspect of my build and to learn about what's possible etc, after all it's very rare that there is only one solution and it does allow...

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

So something like this would be suitable? . Using a Hager JK112BG Invicta3 Metal 12 Way Standard Type B Three Phase TPN Distribution Board With Glazed Door Without Incomer 125A. and just wire as a normal CU using all 3 phases for 3 phase stuff and splitting the single phase requirements over the...

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

Thanks for clarifying (y) Does it matter if the 3 phases are balanced? I have read that it does not really matter as it's just like having 3 different houses one on each phase, however I have also read that it could lead to a high and dangerous neutral current? If I was drawing the full 18KW on...

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

It's 2.5 floors and your suggestion is a good idea (y) or would have been a few months ago but I've already had most of the cables installed and they all terminate in the garage (n). Now that you've pointed it out I do see what you mean. (y) Are Schneider boards good value for money and do I...

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

TBH I thought that was a standard 3 phase board just with the incoming split into 2 sections, 1 for 3 phase and 1 for single phase? House will have approx. 36 circuits in total. Is there anything specific that makes it a total shambles? Will do.

Residential 3 Phase Supply to Single / 3 Phase

Hi all, I am currently in the process of building a self build and have a few questions about the distribution of power. I am not an electrician but do have a basic understanding of electrics. Also to confirm I will not be fitting this as I will be employing a qualified electrician when the...

    Sensor Placement

Hi all, I am looking for a cable to use for the motion sensors. They need a L & N feed and a SL return and ideally I want to use black outer for cosmetic reasons. When looking on the web I have found mixed information about whether I can use 3184Y or not. On the CPC site it states "Generally...

Multiple Security Lights / Multiple Motion Sensors

Thanks to everyone for all of their help on this topic. I'm planning to get to work fitting the lights and motion sensors and first fixing all cables back to where the panel will be. Not sure when I will get round to actually fitting the panel but undoubtedly I'll be revisiting this thread when...

    Sensor Placement

The lights are just one part of my security set up which will also include video cams, and a good alarm system. Appreciate that if they want to be in then they will probably get in but no reason to make it easy! Thanks for everyones help on this.
