    Remove silicon from glass

You can also buy scrapers that hold stanley knife blades sideways on. If you can't find them in your local shed, any pet shop should have something similar (they're used to scrape algae off the inside of fish tanks).

pump the boiler back up ?

I may be wrong, but I think Ben is just talking about the Domestic Hot Water. In which case, all he has to do is turn the water back on.

What would you do ........ ??

Exactly! It's just as much your anniversary as your wifes. Surely the answer is to take her with you. As a concession promise to allow her to choose how you both celebrate next year. Ooo, I feel like I've just had a Claire Rayner moment

Is this an odd door size?

Those doors do look a bit unusual. Your best bet would be to contact some local joiners for quotes. They may well give you a price to "supply and fit". They'll undoubtedly be a better product than the "off the shelf" stuff anyway and likely not much more expensive.

    Types of render

But seriously, there are better ways to treat brickwork than render it. If you clean it and repoint it, even the most apalling looking brickwork can generally be revitalised.

one shot too many for the drug scum

Perhaps we could use the experience of the Americans, when they abandoned prohibition. Organised crime received a bloody nose, but it didn't actually result in a nation of permanent alcoholics did it? I suspect the legalisation of drugs wouldn't be anything like the disaster most would...

    laying tile diagonally

The method I used one of my bathroom walls. was as follows. Measure the length of the diagonal of your tile. (if they're 6" square this should come to about 8 1/2 inches.) Divide this length into the width and height of your panel(allowing a joint of about 1/8 inch per tile), to work out...

    Best TV/film drunk?

Richard Briars in the good life tops my list as one of the most cringe making pieces of acting ever. I don't think I've ever seen a less convincing drunk scene in my life. So bad as to be embarassing. Just a slight off thread. Why do actors think that a cough sounds like a chunder. It's...

    ARGHHHHH Finally had enough!

One of the worst offenders must be Orange customer services. Before now, I have been hangning on the phone for over two hours to get through to these jokers. As you sit, watching the tv, with half an ear on the music, you suddenly hear a human voice. Excitedly you pick up the phone, just to...

    gold to silver

If they are gold plated, Chromium plating actually takes quite well to gold. You will need a good quality adjustable power supply. This will have to be configurable for constant current. Before you start you will also have to prepare some lead annodes. Clean up some pieces of lead sheet...

    Could shed be causing damp

It may also be worth checking for debris that has collected between the shed and the main building. If this is breaching the DPC, it may be the main cause of the problem.

    The Sunday Question ?

At the end of the day, we are all, who we choose to be. No matter what qualifications we have, what background we come from, the most important details of how we conduct our lives are down to our own choice. No matter what influences (wether nurture or nature), we are all responsible for...

There's a hole in my rad and it letting out water

A hole in my shoe was recorded by Traffic in 1967 Absolutely brilliant. The first verse absolutely cracked me up. "There's a hole in my bucket" was an English translation of a German Song "Liewer Heindrich" I suspect it was lifted from a thread on one of their DIY forums. Anyhow, back...
