    Time/Current characteristics for....

    instantaneous only at 5x current and above... less than 5x current takes time to disconnect (thermal part as spark says) If your earth loop isnt low enough to allow 30 amp (5x current) through then it doesnt comply with regs... therefore thermal part for overload protection rather than...

    NIC tech manual shows that if you supply out building the earth you provide has to be main bonding conductor and CPC combined the calc i did above does give the equivalent steel CSA to copper, right ? a cable manufacturer said that you have to multiply the required csa of copper by 7.5...

    sorry to bring this up again... 100 amp supply, 16mm main earth so 10mm main equipotential bonds 10mm copper required, but using steel .. k1/k2 x 10 would give me the equivalent CSA for steel ? 115 / 51 = 2.25 x 10 = 22.6 mm Steel =>22.6 steel required to equal 10mm copper so i...

    2 electricity supplies in one building, 1 water main

    the areas supplied by the seperate supplies are well divided changing to just the 3phase supply is a good idea and much safer thing to do as isolation by one isolator ... but wouldnt the water still need bonding by the both supplies still whether its in use or not ?

    2 electricity supplies in one building, 1 water main

    Yes its all 25mm tails, 16mm main earth, 10 mm main equipotential bonds Where do i bond on the old water main if there is nothing coming off the consumer side of the stop cock ? we arent supposed to bond on supply side of services right ?

    2 electricity supplies in one building, 1 water main

    What should be done in the following scenario.. ? two shops divided by a wall.. "Shop A" 3 phase 100 amp TNCS "Shop B" single phase 100 amp TNCS The wall was knocked down making just one Shop with 2 TNCS supplies. Both Shops had a seperate water main, but now, "Shop B" water main...

    using adiabatic eq. BS 88 63 amp 0.4ohm earth loop =0.2 secs disconnection 600 x 600 = 360,000 x 0.2 = 72000 sqrt 72000 = 268.3 SWA K = 51 268.3 / 51 = 6 mm2 CSA 16mm2 2 core SWA = 46mm2 so therefore its fine as a supply to a fuse board ? and the table shows...

    Another Armoured Cable Qestion

    when you say SWA can only be used as CPC ... does this mean i can or can not use it to supply another fuse board, as a supply earth atm i have ... TN-S 63 amp supply to out-building using 2 core SWA there out building has no water/gas services therefore the supply earth doesnt need...

    Another Armoured Cable Qestion

    If i have 16mm2 two core SWA ... how do i determine the CSA of the steel armouring ? a) would it have the equilvalent current carrying capacity as the P+N conductors ? ie 60amp copper - 60 amp steel armour b) would it have the same CSA ie 16mm2 copper therefore 16mm steel wire c) or...
