    BS7671 Table 6E1 - Current carrying capacity

According to this table, there are different methods of cable installation. Which would be applicable to running a cable through wooden joists under floorboards in a house with no insulation under the floor, and in a vertical run of MMT2 plastic trunking for 2.4m? I merely ask as my sister...

TV / Video RF aerial connection problem - very strange

The channels not to use will vary depending which transmitter you are using, as each transmitter in the country uses different RF channels to transmit the same TV stations. That's why if you take a working TV from Scotland, and try using it in the Midlands, it won't work, unless you re-tune it...

    New Garage Electrics

If your mates company are going to be testing it and signing that the work that you have done is up to standard, I would suggest they are by far the best people to ask what should be installed. After all if someone on this forum suggests something that you then do, and they think it is not...

    Electric shower

Depending how the cable is run did you realize that a 10mm t&e cable is not capable of carrying 50A of current and therefore a 50 A MCB is not suitable (ie under-rated) for protecting this cable?

    Installing a single oven

there isn't really any diference. Do what BAN said and install a 13a FCU, that will satisfy the minimum gap of 3mm bit, and use 2.5mm cable if you wish, but it's over-kill really. 1.5mm will be fine.

    New fuse for shower upgrade?

You should only upgrade your MCB to a 40A if you're sure the cable that it's going to be connected to is suitable for being connected to a 40A MCB. You wouldn't wire you power sockets in speaker cable would you? ......would you? If you've got 6mm T&E then the max MCB should really be be...

    Installing a single oven

What does it say the power rating of the oven is? This will usually be in watts or Kilo watts. As long as the number of watts is less than 3000 or 3k watts then there won't be a problem with fitting your own 13amp plug top with some 1.5mm three core heat resistant flex (that you can buy from...

Looping in at a Light Switch ?

where possible I always try and keep the cpc longest so that if it's going to be pulled apart (yeah I know it should have mechanical protection) the cpc will be last to break contact, therefore providing greater safety.
