    Mira Flight shower trays.

It’s a shame that no alternatives were offered. This is quite common on reviews such as this. They knock a product without offering an alternative. You then look into others which also get knocked. Soon after you end up with nothing so go back to the original plan. What did you end up with in...

Advice on best repair for chipped waterproof laminate

Is that different to the Briwax kit? I just bought this from Dunelm. I was surprised to see you just squash it in. If it squashes in I would have thought it can just squash out. Are the waxes you melt harder...

    Is this timber goosed?

I did. I sent an email with photos in last Monday. Not had a reply.

    Is this timber goosed?

They are 3.9 meters long. This is a standard size in this region timber yard has the same ones but they are 2 hours round trip (same supplier) which is annoying as these ones are 15 minutes away. Unfortunately it is just the attitude of this timber yard. Here is another stack.

    Is this timber goosed?

Thanks. Amazingly most of them sold earlier. I wouldn’t be surprised if they turn back up when they get returned. Hopefully they will get some more and stack them properly.

    Is this timber goosed?

Getting them to guarantee is one thing. Getting a refund or replacement could be another. I would rather avoid the issue in the first place…if it is an issue.

    Is this timber goosed?

My local timber merchant has some good Swedish Redwood planed in the size I want. I went along to pick up a load but what I saw caused concern. They were stacked so that they were all bent and misaligned. When I pointed this out they suggested that it would go back straight. I doubt it. I...

Spruce vs Pin. Picture of UC4 cross section

These were from the local timber merchants. Well one was. The other was from a very reputable merchant I had to drive an hour away to get to.

    Nightmare customer won’t pay

This is important to remember. I have won 4 (criminal so a little different) court cases over the last 12 months. I’ve been award around £400. Never seen a penny. And don’t hold out for receiving it either. There are always reasons/excuses. “I don’t have enough money for food, heating” etc. If...

Spruce vs Pin. Picture of UC4 cross section

I need to put a few posts into the ground. I have bought a spruce post and a redwood pine 4x4 post for comparison. Most websites suggest that redwood pine is better but usually can’t explain why. Some en sites say that spruce is in fact better for in ground applications as it is more resistant...

Everbuild 195 siliconised acrylic sealant for sealing basin area

I phoned their technical team who suggested that silicone sealant would be better but the acrylic sealant would stand up to the odd splashing from around a basin. In hindsight a proper silicone sealant would have been better but this does have anti mould properties and should stop water...

Everbuild 195 siliconised acrylic sealant for sealing basin area

Hmm, I just looked for what you said and see what you mean. On the tube it says you can use on ceramic tiles though, which is what they are. If it shouldn’t be used around water I’m not sure how they think it can be used externally. It also says you shouldn’t use in continual submersion...

Everbuild 195 siliconised acrylic sealant for sealing basin area

I am building a downstairs cloakroom. After fitting the tiles and grouting them I have used a siliconised acrylic sealant, Everbuild 195, on the bottom of the tiles that join to the wood. I did this so I could easily remove the wood hiding the cistern cover should I ever need to instead of...

What does that mean? N doesn’t stick as well as +?

Which type of water hammer arrestor?

Did we actually get an answer as to which one is best/most reliable? Too much talk on cause. My drier has a horribly aggressive on/off valve which I only found out about after I bought it. Not happy but I’m stuck with it. It’s the only thing that causes hammer so need an arrester. The problem is...

What’s the point of incised timber?

Ideally I would use concrete spurs/Godfathers but no one seems to sell them in West/North Yorkshire area or if they do they are £20-£25 which is absurd. I appreciate the comments about water rotting from water traps but surely incision would lead to the water being trapped more. Channeling...

What’s the point of incised timber?

Erm, I’m wanting to put up UC4 timber fencing but am put off by the incising. Just trying to make sense of the use of incising which seems counterproductive to me. Im trying not to get side tracked by other questions other than to say that the materials listed above are either ugly, impractical...

What’s the point of incised timber?

Why is the wood not at risk of water ingress? There are cuts in the wood, that’s how the treatment gets deeper into the wood. Why would water not do the same.

What’s the point of incised timber?

I’m needing to spend several thousands on full fencing around the garden which I intend to make and put up myself. The current fencing put up by the previous owner is around 5 years old and rotten throughout. Keen to not have this happen again I will be looking for UC4 timber but I can only...

tightening flexiable tap tails to tap

That is a good question. I’ve just just done up some flexitails. They were really difficult to tighten with my fingers at full stretch. I used a spanner but found it difficult to get any feel. I’m concerned that I may have overtightened. Is there a way to tell? The last thing I want to happen...
