sounds like waste from sink is blocked.try filling sink up with plug in and then empty sink and see if it empties in reasonable time, if not its causing back pressure and thats why washing machine water is coming back up sink. rgds gary

if its less than 3-4 yrs old its probably the wash temp probe, its a solid state ntc in the back of the drum you need a multi meter to check it, there is also a similar temp probe on the dryer heater box but even when it does the fault you explain on the drying cycle its the one in the wash tub...

while the dial is spinning watch the flashing red light it will go out for 3-4 seconds and then start flashing again, count the number of times it flashes before it goes out again for 3-4 seconds, this is a fault code if you can post reply how many flashes i can guide you in the right direction.
