    Cavity closers

That's a cheap price, I can only find them around here for £15 per 2.4m strip

    Cavity closers

I have some DPC left over so that would brilliant! May I ask what you mean by "return the inside cavity to make sure it holds in place". I was thinking, with your idea of using the DPC, putting in a 100mm cut of celotex to fill the cavity but have a strip of DPC against the outer leaf. The...

    Cavity closers

Hi, I'm currently doing a cavity build and I'm not sure if to use cavity closers or not. My cavity insulation is Celotex 75mm and was wondering if I could just cut a 100mm slab, my cavity is 100mm, and use that to close the cavity around the door and window. Having a search on here...

    Foundation for a brick shed

That's why I thought of 7n blocks for their strength so posted on here asking the question to see if they were needed. I'll see what the weight differences are between the two but I'll be using 3.6n's for the inner leaf and just painting the outer leaf to save time and costs. The price...

    Foundation for a brick shed

Thank you pinenot, you've been most helpful throughout this project so thank you. I'll just paint the blocks then as I'm not really after it looking spectacular as I won't see the 3 block walls anyway. I'll stick with the 3.6n blocks then for both leaves and paint up the outer leaf. Would I...

    Foundation for a brick shed

I'm ready to build this up now this year but I'm not 100% sure what concrete blocks to use. My plan is to use solid medium density 3.6n concrete blocks for both the outer and inner leaf of the wall. Possibly render or seal and paint the exterior wall. Would I be better using solid dense 7.3n...

    Wall Foundation near drain cover

I've started digging down to where I'm going to lay the foundation. I've hit clay at around 250mm. Am I right in thinking I should dig down to 300-350mm and follow the advice given above to have a 150-200mm foundation?

    Wall Foundation near drain cover

Ok, thank you for that, I really appreciate your advice. I'll have a dig down tomorrow and see what ground I have but the top of the garden came to clay at around 500mm deep. Also, my wife has just informed me that it is our drain and isn't shared with the neighbour so it seems I wouldn't...

    Wall Foundation near drain cover

That was the information I was after, thank you. The drain, as far as I am aware, is shared with the neighbour so that puts a stop to that then if I need to ask permission. I was thinking of going 600mm wide so I could go about 100mm deep. If they need to get to the drain, the wall can...

    Wall Foundation near drain cover

Hi, Could someone give me some advice please? i'm after building a single row, 100mm medium density block wall which will be just under a meter high and I need to lay a foundation. The problem is that I have a manhole cover close by and I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put a foundation near...

Building regulations required for new shed?

I'm building a shed at the minute which falls between the 15-30m2 catagory. From what the planning portal says is that if it is within 1 meter of your boundary than it has to be built with substantially non combustible materials as stated by someone above. Basically, it mostly has to be built...

    Foundation for a brick shed

I've dug the center out now ready but we seem to be getting spurts of rain which is making the ground damp. Even though it made it easier to dig up the remaining corner today, is it best if I cover the ground up until I can get the compacted hardcore in there or does it not matter? Also...
