    Roller guide for foldaway bed

Perhaps urethane rollers would be a quieter solution? :) However, still stuck on the problems of brackets… ie making them up of getting them supplied…

    Roller guide for foldaway bed

Ok, I think that is not a bad idea, although requires a completely different roller guide (but more straightforward), ie a straight, vertical guide. So, I think with that method, I would also need to find a way to encourage the inside edge to lift - which I think I have an idea on too.

Condensation on the frame of new aluminium windows – slight reprise

Perhaps read the original thread? We seem to be having the same debate again, with people that don’t understand the differences between condensation caused by excessive humidity and condensation caused by cold surfaces (or, in this case, widow frames that readily conduct heat, from the inside...

    Roller guide for foldaway bed

Well, that's one bed, my problem requires two. The desk is more like an ironing board. And did you miss the price?

Condensation on the frame of new aluminium windows – slight reprise

Well, the new thing is… I solved it. Without new windows.

    Roller guide for foldaway bed

I have made a high sleeper bed, with a desk beneath. To add to the utility of this unit I want to install a fold-out bed, that effectively stands behind the desk when not in use, and extends beneath the desk when required. That is to say that the foldaway bed has the foot postion on the left...

Condensation on the frame of new aluminium windows – slight reprise

Wow, didn’t that thread go on… https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/condensation-on-the-frame-of-new-aluminium-windows.417382/page-4 Anyway, people are going to disagree, but I found a few cures for this problem, the first is the most radical: 1 Stop breathing: Yes, if you stop breathing the...

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

The latest on this little saga, Bulb now say: I always love the “if you are not happy you can go somewhere else solution”. My view on that is, generally, why would I expect to get any better treatment elsewhere? I expect that if I complain to the ombudsman now they will just say that I...

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

This is the point I made previously, but which you indicated was irrelevant, because the heaters had thermostats. See post #15.

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

That's the implication from Bulb. I'm a bit perplexed as to why you think that is some kind of innovation. That's the way it's been for at least 30 years. The only distinction here is that you desire a system where you control the timers, and I think it's more sensible to have the system...

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

I'd expect that if Bulb cannot supply a five terminal meter, then the Ombudsman would insist that they bear the cost of rewiring the storage heaters/water, and supply timers. Whatever you think about these systems being outdated, there is a deadline for electricity suppliers to supply five...

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

Given the choice, what route would you choose? You being responsible for the upkeep of the timer, and potential for any timers to be out of synch with the E7 rate, or the electricity supplier to be responsible, and guaranteed to be in synch? I don't know that it ever did that. Mine switches...

Already threatened them with that, no response. But that's what I'll have to do.

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

I am definitely not doing that. I currently see how the timer goes haywire, and I've seen it be out of synch previously (ie coming on at 7am rather than going off at 7am). If I put my own timers in they could potentially be out of synch with the E7 low rate, and I'd be paying the higher rate...

Aren't these things what they say they cannot get!? http://www.em-lite.co.uk/modular_metering.htm https://www.edmi-meters.com/product/meters/electricity-metering-devices/es-12b/

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

Now Bulb seem to have accepted that they are responsible for the timer and meter, but they still aren't going to do anything: It turns out there is some kind of industry-wide issue here: https://www.ombudsman-services.org/faqs/energy-sector-faqs#are-economy-7-smart-meters-not-available...

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

Ironically, they just sent me an email promoting their smart meters!? Then, when I do some searching around their site I find: https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/115003610092-Two-rate-meters-including-Economy-7-

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

When they eventually come and fix it I'll ask them for the scrap, then I can send it to you and give us a post-mortem report. I don't know why it is doing it, but it's old, and evidently broken, so any number of things could be amiss.

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

Yes, it is probably about 30 years old. I think the electrics were redone just before I moved in (1990), all the storage heaters, etc were new and unused. The block had just been renovated.

    Faulty Economy 7 timer

I'm guessing, but my guess is that the timer is switching supplies to the meter, and the meter only has a connection to the storage heaters/low rate immersion heater when it is on the "low" rate (via the consumer unit, where there is obviously a separate switch/circuit for the off-peak load)...
