Another twist to the tale... The repair guy has been around...and changed the thermistors, low and behold this did not sort the problem. When we offerd him the advice that the issue may be the PCB he said 'if it were the PCB then youd get no power at all'??? Is that the case?? He has now...

I really do appreciate all the help that everyone including ChrisR have given us. There are some truly nice people on here. Repair man is coming round' with the thermistor :shock: so lets see how he goes when i tell him i think its the PCB :roll: Will let you know how i get on.

Did you evr ask what the problem was? How good is British Gases home care product? Cheers for that. Everyone else of the same conclusion?

FURTHER UPDATE: Have swapped the thermistors around with no change what so ever. I do not believe it is the thermistors that are the problem. The boiler is occasionally firing up but then almost instantly goes out on other occasions it will fire up for a short time and start to heat the...

Sorry Chris, yeah i did take on board what you said about them being sensors, the brass end to them just looks sort of valve like (sorry amateur me). After reading various replies i suspected a PCB failure, i have to wait for this guy to come out and try and fit the new thermistor...pain...

Ive found them both. So all i need to do to swap them over is to disconnect the wires from each, spanner the valves off, swap them over and reconnect the wires?...
