hi are you talking about the inside of the frame or the outside if the inside I would use a paintable caulk. I use painters mate and have found the trick is not to use it too thick. Leave it overnight before painting. If outside you must use a sillicone based caulk. this is not overpaintable so...
another couple of tips, use a soft filler that rubs down easy, I find easi fill or powdered tetrion the best. Don't use poly filler as it sets hard and is a mare to rub down. When filling leave slightly proud and be gentle with the sanding. If you start rubbing the coving paper too much you will...
Paint pads have there uses Zampa, they are brilliant for t'cutting the van and the wife swears by them with one of those wood wipe cloths and a pole for the wooden floors, ................. never seen them used for paint though
hi katy, like I said thats the retail price not what you would pay with an account. I have had a few customers that have opened their own account without any probs so if you cant find a chippy give it a go.
Good luck
Hi Katy May,
I agree with Joe's point on this one. If you are new to DIY I have a horrible feeling you will make a pigs ear of the painting. To sell it has to be tip top and the kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the house. If I were you I would get hold of a chippy and find out if...
Cant believe you found some more tips Zampa
Right how about..........
Wash your hands thoroughly, you will be surprised how dirt can transfer to wet paper and never come off
If you have never papered before get some samples from a shop and paste them. work with the samples...
everything the others have said plus
make sure the batch numbers are the same on all the rolls.
papering is a very very clean job so make sure all the painting has been done first and clean everything as you go.
only mix as much paste as you need. It will prob take you several days to do...
only ever seen the pads at brewers or the ddc's may be cheaper to buy the pot from B&Q thats used to store the brushes and only costs a few quid and then buy a bottle of brush mate fluid from the above shops. It will last you longer than the pad as well.
Top Tip too, add a few drops of the...
Hi, go to the Dulux website (best) or look in the yellow pages. They will recommend a Dulux Select Decorator Free of charge. Check out the scheme while you are there if you have never heard of it. I cover the Maidstone area if you get stuck get back in touch. Good luck!
Hi, Woodstain is my prefered choice but as Zampa says avoid brush marks at all cost. The way I do it is to go for a solvent based stain. Apply with a brush and wipe off excess with a soft lint free cloth. Ensure you prep the wood first thoroughly. I would say a med oak or even a walnut stain...
hi yep that works although I would use an oil base undercoat as matt seems to stick to it better. For a proper finish I use a stain blocker instead, either in a spray form or out of the tin. Both dry quicker than the oil based solution and are availiable at all good stockists. Zinser and Damp...
Hi, can help on both questions there. Firstly my prefered method re wallpaper is to score the old paper. I use a tool called a tiger availiable from all good dedicated decorating centers. Once scored soak with a sponge and water, I add a product called Dif to the water which dissolves the paste...
I love DIY and I love DIYers
Without them and the programmes that encourage them I would not be asked to put right what they have done  and as a result would not live in a nice house and holiday abroad twice a year don't you know (little finger crooked as I sip my...
eerrr!!! sorry I have never done it or seen it done so I for one cannot give you a definite answer about mixing the paint like you did. :? :?
My guess would be that it is the cause though. You will get a definite answer from Dulux Tech and you can find the number on the Dulux website...
