No pilot light on Chaffoteaux et Maury Sterling PP combi

Fair enough and thanks for the response Corgiman but what could the likely cause or causes of the problem be, so at least I have some idea of what the RGI is talking about

No pilot light on Chaffoteaux et Maury Sterling PP combi

The pilot light will not ignite on a Chaffoteaux et Maury Sterling PP combi boiler. Power and gas are getting to the boiler and pressure is being maintained but the ignitor will not spark the pilot. Can anyone give any suggestions as to the likely causes which I can check. Many thanks in advance.

How much stone should I order

I'm going to be paving my driveway when the weather picks up and I have about 85 sq mtrs to cover. If I want 200mm of stone to go down, how many tonnes would I need to order and should it be delivered and compacted in 2No. separate 100mm layers.

What should i ask a builder

Not quite that simple as you still need to fill in lots of blanks in the NBS documents for the components you want to specify but it does give some useful references to British Standards, Codes of Practice etc. From what I remember, the NBS is a subscription service as it is regularly...

Chasing walls for concealed shower valve

I had a similar scenario when fitting my concealed shower. I cut the chases out for the pipework by running down the wall with a small angle grinder. Two 'tracks' about an inch apart and to a depth of about an inch into the brick for each of my 15mm pipes. I formed the recess for the valve...

    Can i remove these timbers?

Screw don't nail, if you'll pardon the expression  and I'd fix them at about 300mm (max) centres along the length of the ceiling joists, to minimise any annoying squeaks later. It may be an old wives tail but did it used to be recommended to put carpet underlay or something similar...

Central heating ok but no hot water

I checked this again on Friday last and the C/H flow pipe was now getting increasingly warmer as the hot water was run, it definately stayed cold when I previously checked it and I did check this on more than one occasion last week :? Anyway, I decided to replace the diaphragm in the...

Central heating ok but no hot water

Well that was a none starter.......Someone has previously had a go at the hot water temperature sensor on my mates boiler and has wrecked the screw heads on both screws which hold the sensor in place. God help him if he ever needs to swap his sensor over but I couldn't get either of the...

Central heating ok but no hot water

I'm going to try something today. A mate of mine has got the same boiler as me and he's happy to 'lend' me the hot water temperature sensor out of his boiler, which is working fine, to test on mine to see if that's causing the problem, so I'll give it go. Nothing to lose really as I don't...

Central heating ok but no hot water

Ahhhhhh……..back to ‘luke warm’ water once again :( Just to summarise where things are upto then:- 1) Diverter valve and microswitch appear to be doing what they are supposed to be doing, given the c/h flow pipe test already carried out. 2) The temperature sensor sounds as though it...

Central heating ok but no hot water

I thought that Keith, in his answer "Yes it is", was maybe referring to the plate heat exchanger being the same thing as the Water to Water Heat Exchanger shown in my manual? not to my question about the FAQ'S I too though, would still like to know where in the FAQ's, it refers to the Heat...

Central heating ok but no hot water

Could it still have been something to do with the plate heat exchanger though? or is the temperature sensor more likely to have been the only culprit?

Central heating ok but no hot water

I've done a bit of investigation again this morning and as part of that, I disconnected and removed the hot water temperature sensor. I gave the unit and the contacts a clean and refixed it and the hot water is now back upto its correct temperature. :? but :D Does this sound as though my...

Central heating ok but no hot water

Thanks for the response Keith. I have had a look through the Sticky thread named "FAQ's & Plumbing Tips" but I can't find any reference to a Plate Heat Exchanger here :? Is this where you mean that I should look Nor can I can't find any reference to this part in the user manual either...

Central heating ok but no hot water

Hi Ollick, I think that I have established that my problem is not related to the Diverter valve. Would you mind posting seperately on the problem you are experiencing, as I do not want my original post to turn into a lengthy 'diverter valve discussion'. Please don't take this the wrong...

OK, I have now done the above. C/H Flow pipe is stone cold :?

Central heating ok but no hot water

If the diverter is failing, can I just replace the diaphragm on the inside, or do I need to replace the whole unit. If I replace either/or, do I still need to fully drain down the c/h system or can I just turn the valves on the c/h flow and return pipes. How much should I be paying (supply...
