It is worth checking that the face of the jumper is also flat and does not have any erosion tracks in it.

Fluidmaster dual flush converion kit button installation

I would doubt there is room between the cistern and the panel to fit the new button. Close off the existing hole in the outer panel with a chrome tap hole stopper and relocate the new button to a more convenient place.

Neighbours boiler safety becasue of my new build.

"So I guess, if Mr Porch had applied for a planning permission and indicated Mr Flue's flue, they they may have rejected that plan there and then or issued a notice to mr Flue to move his flue if they were wise about that flue should not be there in the first place." Planning permission and...

Neighbours boiler safety becasue of my new build.

Perhaps the OP has not returned because they feel the quality of advice has at best been variable, what with the imagined contravention of gas rules etc. Maybe they have realised that more professional advice should be sought before they are hauled off to prison. Now I must get off out to...

Neighbours boiler safety becasue of my new build.

Funny how we can confuse the intent of the regulations. I don’t see reg 34 has any bearing in this issue as raised by the op. It does bear on the owner of the adjoining property not to permit the appliance to be used however, once they have been made aware of the safety concern. 34 (1) – (2)...

    problem with CH

Perhaps the vent and cold feed need to be sorted first, as from the pic the vent is on the cylinder flow and there would seem to be a cold feed on the return. Hard to be sure as the picture does not show the whole of the pipework. When the cyl valve is open the path around the vent and...

cant refil my central heating. i suspect a blocked cold feed

That being the case its probably more air in there, the HE is a coil (loops within the cylinder) it will need the full flow from the pump to probably shift it all and you may have to re-vent in stages. first off however you need to set the 3port valve to feed hot water cylinder only to get...

Fitting a soil pipe through a joust

Doubling up may not be required depending on span and situation, hence my suggestion you seek local advice. You can really only see limited info from the picture, for instance there would seem to be a load-bearing wall just to the left and no information on the span to the right in the...

Fitting a soil pipe through a joust

If you are unsure of the terms then it may be a DIYnot situation. So I would suggest you seek assistance from someone who does. However nothing ventured 'as they say' Trimmer a short section of joist set at right angles to the beam to be trimmed. these are affixed by joist hangers to...

    Earth testing?

Hi Timmy It may be worth checking the PH of the water supply. Shallow well water can often be acidic as is the rainfall unless local ground conditions act to change it. The acidity will make such waters cupro solvent. In other words it will attack copper and also act to de-zinctify brass...

central heating only comes on with h water, stumped engineer

If you are absolutely sure the gate valves work and the pump valves work, and I mean absolutely sure, next time you drain it remove the valves and be sure they are open when turned to be so. While its off you may as well split the pump and check the impeller is clear to eliminate that possible...
