Thanks but no I did not let it get in this bad condition in the first place and I do worry because the gold is lovely and I don't want to damage it.
All of the limescale cleaner I have seen states it must not be used on gold, is there one that can be?

Thanks. EBay is a good idea but I haven't yet found one like mine which is Ideal Standard and originally cost £200 but has not been made for some considerable time and Ideal Standard say they no longer give cleaning instructions for them, only plastic ones.

I asked the question because I was concerned and don't know whether things like lemon juice and vinegar may damage the "gold plated" surface?
It's fixed so can't be taken off.
