    Dodgy builder demanding money!

I've found out that most people that shout about being tough, really aren't. Its the ones that you don't expect to be tough, that can be pretty nasty. Dodgy builder demanding money!

Wardster, this comes down to your own personality, wether you really wan't the hassle or not, personally I would not pay the man, I would in fact bill him for the extra work you've had done because of his poor workmanship. I had a similar problem once, I had a quote off a guy to have a paddock...

    Indoor flat roof

Thanks all, Though I didn't explain myself too well, I called them wall plates but they won't be on a wall, one will be directly onto the tops of the upvc sections (as it is all upvc) and the back timber would be bolted to the rear block wall (not sitting on a block wall). but I'm guessing the...

most granite suppliers have the same patterns/types available, so they shouldn't have a problem matching it up, Carefull you don't get ripped off though. Some suppliers get the word 'Granite' mixed up with 'Gold'.

Quote for a new felt roof

    Creaky floorboard / joist?

Personally I find that 90% of squeeking from a floor is from a nail, the boards rub up and down the nails causing the squeek, If your going to take the boards up try removing the nails first leaving the screws in.

    Chipboerd flooring

No problem, I was going to make sure the joins were on a joist, but lots of people have been telling me (including the flooring supplier) that you don't have to. I will though.

    Chipboerd flooring

Just about to lay some 8'x2' chipboard flooring (p5's). I'm going to stagger the joins and 'screw' them down for a better fit, Any other rules I should know of? You don't have to lay the joins on a joist do you? Thanks.
