Nest Thermostat (with Open Therm) on Worcester Bosch

If it's going on and off check if you can rate the boiler correctly, ie if your radiator needs is 10kw and you have an 18kw boiler it will produce too much heat and overshoot, there may be a setting to derate it. This is regardless of modulation.

Vaillant EcoTec 831 - Help with setup

They have removed the option to set permanent on the 720f, if you want that then go into schedule and adjust. Once you are on override (and how long) the screen just shows the new temp with a line under saying press << to cancel, its clear and remains like that until time has expired. Ive not...

Vaillant EcoTec 831 - Help with setup

I've got a vrc720f that I installed a few says ago, what do you want to know. Old 700f depending on version... - no temp control per timeslot - override hard to cancel (resolved on later version) - one click on override makes temp permanent The cost is the same, so no point getting older model.

Get the vrc720f if they have it. I got mine from Mr Central heating, next day delivery.

Vaillant EcoTec 831 - Help with setup

Wc targets a certain flow temp, the boiler decides the gas flow. Setting d00 correctly prevents overshooting flow temps and boiler tripping out.

New central heating - could I ask for some help please

You may need the boiler ranged, check that the correct heat curve is set on the smart controls and system is correctly balanced first before going further. Incorrect curve can lead to greater heat loss than boiler is generating. Boiler ranged incorrectly can make flow temp rise too quickly and...

What type of house is it, size, walls, insulation etc

New central heating - could I ask for some help please

Flow is way too high, 80c really should only be on HW cylinders, 65-70 on CH, when smart WC is installed it can modulate it lower as needed. Did they fit weather compensation smart controller? Was this all new piping? What size combi is it?

    UNvented cylinder dual thermosat question

Boiler would cut out on overheat flow/return temps anyway so might be OK doing it like that.

Remote control of heating without Nest/Hive or similar

Danfoss/EPH do one, most run in the 433mhz unfortunately but I've just seen they have mistat series and that is 868mhz. Honeywell evohome stuff is 868mhz but that replaces all your controls

    Gas cooker bayonet socket

Never understood why we have not migrated from bayonet fittings to push to open style like air lines. I remember working in a commercial kitchen and that is what we had, special ones for gas, but we also required a heavy chain on all appliances to the wall so you could not pull the oven and it...

Oil Combi Boiler - Runs out of hot water

Not quite a combi, they are not very clear in their documentation, nor do they state its size in the install docs. I googled a bit and found its about 45liters and has a flow sensor, when you open taps it will not fire up but if its higher flow rates such as shower boiler will fire up but...

Remote control of heating without Nest/Hive or similar

You can put in a thermostat quite easy, cut away tank insulation and fit then put it into the wiring center so it breaks the zone valve HW power when satisfied.

Downstairs rads cold when hot water on.

This would be priority by making sure the valves are closed and it will then tell the boiler to fire at max temp to get cylinder to satisfy quickly, then when it reverts back to CH it will lower the flow temp. Manual controls can not do this, normally it requires a boiler specific wiring center.

Oil Combi Boiler - Runs out of hot water

Could be a fault, I would not see why it runs for say 10 mins then gets cold, I do not think that is a storage combi, but if it is then it could explain the time it takes, normally flow rate issues you would notice quickly.

Downstairs rads cold when hot water on.

You have a Glowworm Flexicom 18hx, ive just looked at the manual and seems its ebus capable, you should be able to add a baxi smart wiring center to it so it can give HW priority and control the temps separately. This would be your cheapest solution and does not require a new tank, just rewiring.

Oil Combi Boiler - Runs out of hot water

I do not think that oil combis are a great idea due to this sort of problem. Replace the shower for an electric one and just use combi for the sinks then or slow the water flow, the specs show 15L/min (+/- 15%) for that boiler and I suspect it is HW priority.

Oil Combi Boiler - Runs out of hot water

First check if its been de-rated, some of the oil burners have a way to range them. But a combi should not run out of water as long as the total flow rate of HW is not greater than the specs for the boiler. You need to get a bucket and check how many litres you get in 60seconds, or work it out...

This is why HW priority may be better so you do not oversize the boiler as modulation only has a certain range and when the HW is satisfied the lower end of the modulation might still be too high then the boiler cycles.

Downstairs rads cold when hot water on.

Actually it can be worse as you can not heat up your tank to 60c if you have set low flow/return temps to make sure you are always condensing and getting most efficiency. To get a tank to heat up to 60c you really need the flow temp to be 75-80c but you only want CH flow to be around 65 or...
