Downstairs rads cold when hot water on.

I have a copper tank without foam about that size and it takes about 30-40 mins to go from 18-60. The magnaclean seems to be installed on the wrong side of the system, it should be on the return, not the flow.

Vaillant ecotec plus 415 heating issue

It's cheaper to stay with the type of system you currently have though as modifications will generally not be needed to convert.

Vaillant ecotec plus 415 heating issue

Legionna is not issue with cold water, as long as its kept cold, ie under 20c and its killed at 60c which is why you set tank that temp, or with smart vaillant controls you can have it lower but it will heat tank up once a week etc to kill it off. Your cold water tank should be covered and...

Vaillant ecotec plus 415 heating issue

Make sure you have a magnaclean on these systems and you keep your inhibitor topped up each year. 4xx series boilers are reliable as long as they are fitted with a filter on a clean system, problem I've seen about is how many that were not fitted with one fronm the start, dirty system, missing...

Boiler adding air into system when hot?

That is a fair bit of sludge, inhibiter should be checked every year. Maybe you have built up quite a bit. Also if you have a leak your system will keep topping up with new water. Drain system, see how dirty water comes out, refit and get a couple of bottles of F3, put it in and leave for a...

    Glow-worm Ultracom 1 30cxi - Openthem Nest OTC sensors

I've not seen module but normally the module will have its own connections as ebus and opentherm specs are different. There could be a proprietary interface or goes via ebus, I do not know.

Remote control of heating without Nest/Hive or similar

It means that the wiring of the zone valves is probably incorrect or the microswitch in the CH zonevalve is broken.

Boiler adding air into system when hot?

Did you have the system cleaned properly before it was fitted? Was a filter fitted on the return flow?

    DIY Drayton Wiser

The reason they left the valve open was probably because they knew the boiler was loosing pressure and stopping and it was a cheap fix, but it could also be what broke the boiler, who knows which came first. Question is if there is a leak somewhere, the PRV is leaking or pressure vessel is...

    Underfloor heating problem

I would probably split the system One loop between the two UFH manifolds with single variable pump and mixer, this then takes its feed from the main loop which heats up the radiators using the existing pump. Ide speak to an installer, map out the whole system first, get every bit of detail...

    Central Heating System

Agreed, its OFTEC regulations you may be allowed to do the commissioning yourself but would probably void any warranty. Off bat base figures - boiler - 2/3k - 15 radiators (basic) probably around 2-5k, depends on sizes and types etc, is it inside/outside etc - various controls for 2 zones and...

    Underfloor heating problem

Are there any radiators or is it all UFH? Do you have a HW cylinder as well, is it a regular or system boiler? Is the whole house at a single temp? does not seem any of the UFH zones have independent control. Someone will probably say its best to have individual mixers on the UFH manafold and a...

    Central Heating System

There is no reason why not but it will need a manifold and low loss header most likley. You are planning to add a further 15 rads, so you will need a boiler for the total size but if its fitted before you have those installed it will need to be derated until which time you have it all done...

    Defunct cesspit

Im looking at a house which was converted from cesspit to mains sewage some time ago, but it seems the vendor has left the existing cesspit under the garden and the hatch is still there. They did not give any indication that anything other than switch connections was done and the hatch is right...

    Glow-worm Ultracom 1 30cxi - Openthem Nest OTC sensors

Ide say no as Glow-worm is Vaillant and they use similar ebus, not opentherm. There is a ebus<>opentherm board that works on vaillant from netherlands and I think there is the same for glowworm but under another name.

    Central Heating System

Yes it can be remote controlled using nest/hive/tado/evohome etc but things like weather comp are not possible that I can see on oil boilers as they do not modulate, system just has to be designed well with correctly sized boiler so that it does not keep cycling. With 35 rads it seems its going...
