    Boiler advice please

Is that the BG eng on Homecare plan, well if thats the case they look at the warranty as a gamble and as it gets older they hike up the price or say they no longer want to deal with it. Ive noticed though that BG do not really do a full service on your boilers, ie they do not check inhibiter...

    Boiler firing intemittently

It says you need to be gas safe or competent to do so, you need to be gassafe to work for money, but competent to work on your own system and competent is defined as if you have done relevant approved courses and have required tools, ie you could have a lapsed gassafe certificate or you did the...

Pros & Cons of Vaillant VRC700 controller

I was able to speak with vaillant advanced support today. I asked what the difference is with the VR66/2 and was informed it was a fix to allow running multiple zones a little better with newer VRC controllers but they have had issues with it so just use it like a monozone system, very odd...

Vaillant EcoTec 831 - Help with setup

Look at the new VRC720f, the latest model and even works fine with my 418/VR66 setup over ecobus. Forget about the VRC700f, its old and has no temp control per timeslot and other issues with override temp.

    DIY Drayton Wiser

Personally ide not worry about wireless TRVs, two zones and separate HW valves are good. You could look at the Evohome system as that you can step by step upgrade and its compatible with opentherm boilers or standard older ones if needed. You would need to check if your boiler has requirement...

As the expansion tank is internal you may not be allowed to work on boiler yourself depending on your local regulation over there. If you can not get a replacement then it could be removed and replaced with external one connected to the system.

You can get a zone valve cut into the pipe going into HW tank on the side (top one). Not hard but you would need to drain system and a 22mm pipe cutter. You could add a separate timer for the cylinder and cyl stat. All quite easy really if you understand the wiring. May be idea you get it wired...

A combi would normally have a temp dial on the front, also author states HW heats up with the CH

    DIY Drayton Wiser

Well this is a bag of worms as you need to first need to map the existing system where all the zone valves are, where is the split to the HW cylinder, which zone controls it or does it heat up if either zone is calling, if either zone controls it then that seems its common and may be easy to add...

How many zone valves do you have? I would make the boiler be perm on with that timer then add a seperate external one that handles HW and two CH zones all wireless thermostats but its possable you will need an additional zone valve for HW depending on how your system is setup.

Underfloor heating causing Boiler to Shutoff

Note I think the 637 when you remove the front cover it will expose the internals of the boiler which means you would need to be approved to work on your boiler unfortunately.

Underfloor heating causing Boiler to Shutoff

The only reason I was asking is that the boiler completely turning off seems to point towards someone having miswired the system and when its satisfied it was removing power from the boiler rather than just switching the CH call connection. It should be permanently on and never turn off. I...

Underfloor heating causing Boiler to Shutoff

When was UFH added? Is this new problem since a change or from point of install?

Underfloor heating causing Boiler to Shutoff

Check the following values in diagnostic mode. Also when it shuts down but pump running what is the S state of the boiler? Sounds like boiler is overheating too quick. How many radiators and sizes have you got in the house. d00 d40 d41

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - spares hard to get? Insulation condemns?

Depending on your boiler I think the 831 removing the front cover will immediately show you the internals and you need to be approved to do that. This post may then be removed. On say a 418 you can remove the white cover and you are still not inside the boiler as there is another panel which...

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - spares hard to get? Insulation condemns?

It may be an idea to just get a like for like replacement, Vaillant are quite good and it may just be a case of removing one and putting the new one on and commissioning it by a vaillant advanced installer then you get 10yrs warranty. I have an old 418 which is about 12 years old, last time eng...

    Boiler firing intemittently

So clearly removal of all the posts above even though (mine clearly stated what you are doing is not allowed and thus it was not advice but a clear warning which has now been removed) seems to indicate you should not be trying to fix this boiler yourself.

Is it safe to saw this off?

looks like its wedged between two floor boards which may be why its never been removed
