    Unvented cylinder and boiler cupboard

Thanks Muggles. The measurements were taken after the main was upgraded. I suspect that there was an issue, ironically, with the dynamic flow rate being so high that we couldn't measure it accurately and that the pressure gauge fitting leaked a bit, meaning that the measurements themselves were...

    Unvented cylinder and boiler cupboard

Hi All, Happy New Year and thanks for reading. Our builder has suggested that by increasing the depth of the foundation in 1 of the kitchen cupboards, we'll be able to fit an unvented cylinder in there. 66sq. m. of the entire 130sq. m will be heated with wet ufh via a 6 outlet manifold. All...

    Intergas xtreme 36 ok?

A new development has arisen in that we may have eked out enough space to fit an indirect unvented cylinder. This is dependent on us being able to install the system boiler above it in the same cupboard. This leads me then to seek more of your advice please. 1. Is it possible to fit the boiler...

Thanks Madrab, the supply pipe diameter is 28mm and whilst we could go up to 32mm, the cost of doing so directly from the mains would be prohibitive. We could do so from the boundary meter though. Do you think this would be worth while given that there will still be the 28mm pipe from the mains...

Thanks Madrab. Would there be any benefit in using a 38kw Combi instead, if we increased the inlet pipework? The dynamic flow was measured through a narrow bore hose pipe.

Madrab, apologies for the delay in obtaining this information. The mains water pressure and flow rate are 4.6bar and 24l/min. The dynamic water pressure and flow rate, as measured today with 2 outlets running were 2.5bar and 10.9l/min. Hopefully that helps in establishing what we should do...

It does sound like an oxymoron!

The pressure and flow measured from 1 outlet, without another flowing. I’m a novice so may we’ll have used the wrong terminology Dan.

    Intergas xtreme 36 ok?

I’ve measured the static flow and pressure today which were 30l/min and 3.6bar respectively. The adaptor I had to measure them dynamically didn’t work and so I’ll try and get hold of another tomorrow to remeasure.

Thanks again hard-work, very interesting. As I've said, I'm learning as I go, having had no previous plumbing experience or indeed knowledge, hence the questions. Is the full bore stopcock you mention just for the shower or the main stopcock for the entire house? Where you say fit a tee for all...

I'm going to tee off the water outlet we have, to measure the static and dynamic flow and pressure, which I'll post.

The house is terraced and is only 1300 or so sq ft fixitflav. I'm not sure if that impacts on these heating calculations.

Thanks Razor900. In your view, what would be the benefit of using the Xclusive 36kw over the Xtreme in our set-up please? We are keen to use an efficient boiler.

Thanks for the manifold explanation Hard-Work and for the cost breakdown. More to consider!

We're going to get hold of the hardware we need to do this and then we'll measure that static and dynamic flow and pressure. I'll post them later this week, once we have obtained them.

Thanks, understood. I’ll measure the flow and pressure today and post them. We only have 1 working water outlet though, so I’ll have to measure from this.

No problem Madrab! I have to be honest, I don't know what the incoming mains can supply. No problems with flow or pressure were mentioned when I asked about these though and we have a wide bore inlet pipe which I believe is 25mm.

Thanks Madrab. Overall KW requirements for UFH and radiators are 5.07 + 4.12 respectively = 9.19 KW. Sized and calculated. 2 showers, unlikely both would be used at the same time, although it would be a nice option. We just don't have room for an unvented cylinder.

Thanks Hard-Work. I've had to do a lot of reading around the points you raised! I've not been able to find anything which explains the mechanism by which fitting the combined isolators/flow regulators on all H&C outlets would help. How would this allow balancing the system please and why would...
