    Concealed shower valve

Sorry I don't know the make/model and it doesn't state it anywhere. From the look at a normal tap connector, it seems that the part where the washer fits around is to long and is not sliding inside enough for the washer to create a seal. Are there fittings that can be used instead of a...

    Concealed shower valve

Its from an online plumbing company. Do these check valves need to be fitted. I've fitted a similar shower a few months back and it didn't have these things fitted.

    Concealed shower valve

Hi. I am fitting a concealed shower vale, but need to know what fitting I should get. Both of the hot and cold inlets have a white plastic fitting inside that pushes in and out on a spring. There is a retaining clip holding this part in place. The problem is that with this fitted I...

    Valley detail

Hi hardmetalking. How much does that cost per metre? Also when you say that an upstand can be formed, another roofer told me that he can also do this with lead by fitting a length of timber just in from the edges and forming the lead up and over it. Is this an option?

No. The tiles I've got are mini Stonewold. I was just showing this image as the house I first saw it on looked like this and they were also mini Stonewolds. Cheers.

    Valley detail

This is a real learning experience. I don't think I've come across a trade yet where more than one tradesman agrees on the best way of doing something. I do like asking a few people though and then making up my own mind. I do like the way the dry valley trough looks, but if the tiles need...

    Valley detail

Hi. I am about to have the roof coverings fitted and would like to get some info on the different valley details. I have recently seen a new build where the tiles have been cut very close together and you cannot see the valley at all. I have been told that this is a dry valley trough. I...

    unknown part

I took the part and tap to a plumbers merchant and guess what, They didn't have a replacement part. He said it was typical, as I've bought it of the net. He managed to give me a few other part that I've had to put together, which I've done, but can't test it properly. The extended bath...

    unknown part

Hi Mountainmick. Yes that looks like the part. I hope that it is 3/4 to 1/2" now and not some weird chinese size. Thanks.

    unknown part

There's a thread one end that screws into the chrome tap. I can't measure the internal dimensions properly because it is a hexagon shape to allow you to tighten it using a radiator key. The other end accepts standard fittings. Internal dimensions 15mm. Cheers

    unknown part

Hi. I have bought a waterfall bath tap off the net and it has been shipped from china. I had to cut a particular part down but messed up and cut to much off. I need to get another one, but don't know what the part is. In the image, it is the brass part coming out of the bottom of the...

    Pop up waste

That's exactly what I was thinking. There are thin rubber fins on the inside of the rubber part of the basin mate, but I don't know how good a seal that is and if you over tighten it may disfigure the shape it's supposed to be.

    Pop up waste

Hi Andy. Is this the way it supposed to be done? I can't remember reading that on the instructions that come with it. Someone told me to do the same, but using plumbers mate, which I've done. I haven't used it long enough yet to check. Is the silicone a better seal than the Plumbers...

    roofing advice

Thats exactly what I tought. It's best to have more ventilation than not enough. A technical guy from Redland told me that. I think he emphasised whole ridge vents due to them being habitable rooms below. I don't like having to second guess or check up on tradesmen, but I have used so many...
