I'm trying to remove this shower valve face plate. The plate retaining rings are stuck to the plastic collar and the plate, they won't budge. Anyone any ideas please? Shower-plate by outmyway posted 7 Dec 2021 at 7:20 PM

I need to fill this gap to match the level of the tiles so we can carpet over the top. Its approx 50mm deep and 500mm wide by 7.2m (0.19 cubic meter or 3.8 square meters by 50mm deep) I've thought about screeding but could I fill with say pea gravel and use floor leveller over the top? Or...

Fitting this Frankie sink drain : Should I use mastic inside to make sure I get a good seal, or will the rubber flange washers be OK on their own?

Problem solved .... To my surprise I found I could knock out the brass insert, I spread Dow Corning sealant around the edge and seal .... ... hey presto .... no more leak when the tap is on!

... No not toolstation ... from a bathroom wharehouse place in Abingdon... it was supposed to have been Italian quality made! .... time for a new tap then :(

Thanks Charnwood .... the tap is about 3yrs old. Its not leaking from around those yellow shaded areas where the tails attach. Yeah maybe a pinhole in the brass block .... does that happen? Is the brass block screwed into the tap body ... could it need a tighten if thats possible?

This cartridge monobloc tap leaks only when switched on from the underside. Its a drip that seems to come from around the edge of the inner copper near the cold inlet. I'm scratching my head ... somehow water is finding its way around from the cartridge chamber on the top to the...

Graeme53 - I cant see a problem with that ... Personally having installed a Saniflo with no option in my basement than to 'pump it up', I would try and avoid using one if their is anyway you could run a 100mm soil waste out to meet your existing stack or ground pipework? The Saniflo...

This did cure it .... phew!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the quick replies ... I have now siliconed above the nut and washer .... .... PTFE tape on the flange of trap to waste join + the rubber washer in there ... if that doesn't work I will silicon in there too!! I will wait until morning to let the silicon set ... watch this space!
