Are cold taps usually fed from mains or header tank?

could be either, depending on installation practice or local water bye laws.i work at a hospital and all water to the wards, clinics and kitchen is fed via one large external tank and boost pumps.

Added 2 new radiators upstairs and now 1 downstairs is cold

yes pipes are o.k touching.try turning a couple of rads off that are working and if the problem rads get warm your system could need balancing,if not you could have air trapped in the pipework somewhere.

BAXI 105e Instant - Pressure drop

check the pressure in the expansion vessel with a tyre gauge when cold. if there is no air in the bag the hot water has no where to expand to and eventually goes over pressure and discharges.if the pressure is down top it up to the maufacturers recs.(1-1.5 bar normally).

    Low hot water pressure

try your local plumbing or bathroom merchants, all the ones i have seen in b+q etc. have a connection for hot and cold as both supplies to a shower with booster should come from a tank.

    Low hot water pressure

possibly, if you could find one with just a hot water connection as you cant run cold mains water through a pump(bye law 13).i think it would be easier to change the tap.

    Low hot water pressure

i have had this problem before, most of these type of taps are made abroad for pressurised systems.the only thing you can do is replace the tap with one suitable for gravity systems( or fit a combi or unvented system).

    Draining heating system - urgent!

you don't have to turn off the mains to drain a sealed heating system, just drain through a drain tap which should be fitted low level on your heating system.if there is not one fitted you could drain upstairs via the safety valve fitted to your combi, just give it a twist and wedge it open then...
