Flushed twice......water still dirty (CH problem)

do you mean the boiler cutout is operating, or what? ......I don't know what that means, It flashes red I then have to reset it you might need to turn the pump speed up ....it is always at no3 (highest) have you looked inside the pump, and is it clogged or worn? ..... no, i'm wary of...

Flushed twice......water still dirty (CH problem)

OK I will give it another go. I will drain down the system a few times (might as well get it as clean as I can before I start) then add X800 and crank up the heating. Then 24 hours later, flush it out. If it still trips out after that........I think I've been beaten

Flushed twice......water still dirty (CH problem)

PLEASE don't despair. I was going to get X400, but JohnD recommended X800. I left it in the system for 10 days (In another thread someone posted that he left it in for months) Should I have just used X400? and leave it in for a month? Or should I give X800 another go and leave it in...

Not constantly. When it was in , was when we had the heat wave. I did crank it up a couple of times (4-5 times for about an hour or 2) during the period ( mainly to dry the some socks. )

I think I've sorted it. As I have turned the boiler stat down the red temp light came on. When I turned it up again it went off Let's see what happens.

Flushed twice......water still dirty (CH problem)

OK. I drained the system twice before lunch then over lunch I left it running for an hour. I then drained it once more before adding X800 via the towel radiator. However. Since doing that I can't seem to keep it running for as long. Is this to be expected. I'm planning on leaving...

I assume you mean the little knob on the boiler panel. I turned that down to 1/3 when this happened YEARS ago and that cured it then. If I turn if any lower will it actually heat the water up?

I think the pump is fine. It can switch easily between the 3 modes without hassle. It is just that boiler keeps tripping out :-( I will spend tomorrow filling and flushing the system. And see if it that McKee it stable. Once it is I will put in the X400 and leave it a couple of weeks.

Ok. But if I have to leave the X400 in for 4-6 weeks does this mean I will have to keep on resetting the boiler every 5mins--> 1 hour?

Flushed twice......water still dirty (CH problem)

Can you describe how sludged up is slugged up? I drained the water into a White bucket and the 1st bit of it was clear. After that it became black...... But not sludgy. I don't want to waste time and money on chemicals if it is unnecessary. Plus the wife is doing my head in.

Ok. I will drain down the system one mire time then add X400 Is there a drain on the boiler that needs doing as well? Perhaps there is mire dirt in there that needs shifting as well. My other concern us that as the boiler us now tripping out every 5 mins it won't be stable enough for...

I remember my neighbour had his changed and all was OK after that. Is this something I can do (competent DIYer). Or does it have to be done by a gassafe engineer? Thanks

Flushed twice......water still dirty (CH problem)

Thanks for the quick responses :D Tony, I was concerned about adding any chemicals, as I once did a radiator flush on an old ford escort. The stuff I put through found all the little holes and cleaned them out for me ........ resulting in me having to buy a new radiator :oops...

Hi. I have a 10 year old potterton Suprima 40l (connected to a mains pressure system (barratts house)) It was working fine for years, but over the passed few months it is doing my head in. (needing constant resets) It started off by becoming very noisy so I drained the central heating...
