Thanks John. I wasn't really wanting a switch like that next to my front door. I there a way of wiring a doorbell to do the job, I expect by using a relay of some sort. I'm assuming the problem would be to convert 240V mains to something suitable (12V?) to power the doorbell circuit. Any ideas?

hi. i want to install an exterior light with a timer but instead of a light sensor, i want to use a push switch like a doorbell switch (to stay on for say 20 seconds once pressed and released). What would i need and how could i do this? thanks in advance, john.
