thanks for the reply the adjustment screw wasnt biting on the hinge plate hence the door wasnt moving. I tried turning it again and its fallen off the thread completely now (see bottom photograph). I can still put the allen key on it but the screw is just wiggling about and seems too short...

thanks burnerman do i just remove that screw in the middle of the existing strainer and take it out then pop a push-fit cowl in? not sure if that existing bit comes out, it might be sealed in with the felt
