    Soil retaining wall

And are there any bars sticking up from the foundation? Is there actually any footing at all? If not, you may as well not bother with wasting your time putting rebar in the blockwork. Movement joints in the blockwork? I look forward to seeing the pix after the winter, when the whole...

    Cosmetic surgery for inmate.

Well he couldn't pay any, as he was inside. No tarring and feathering, or Black & Deckering before his head comes off?

    Repointing with Lime

No, there's a 2009 answer above mine, I just didn't happen to notice the OP date. If it's 105 years old, there is no way that that is just a cement mortar for pointing.

    Cosmetic surgery for inmate.

No less tenuous than the reasons that legal scum come up with in Court to try and get them off in the first place. You seem surprised at weasel words emanating from the mouth of a lawyer.

    Cosmetic surgery for inmate.

The point is, the government lied and said that inmates had the same level of access to the NHS. They don't. Not saying they should get the same level, but the gobmint should be up front about it.

    Repointing with Lime

Is this for real? The reason lime was used is that it is sacrificial and will weather away in preference to the masonry. If you repoint soft porous bricks with cement mortar, it is relatively impermeable in comparison to the bricks and will trap moisture in them; freeze/thaw action will...

    Soil retaining wall

Pea shingle is entirely appropriate drainage medium. If it's surrounded by a geotextile, that will stop fine particles being drawn into and eventually clogging up, the perforated pipe. Sand is most definitely not the medium to use!

    Cracking wall

There have been problems with aac type blocks in the past boom times, due to inadequate curing. And they need movement joints at fairly close centres and/or careful detailing. You seem to think that they are too weak. They are not, they are manufactured to a number of design strengths. But...

    Cracking wall

And strangely you can get 7MN Thermalite. Even stronger ones too. They are thermally more efficient than concrete and using the stronger ones is less likely to result in shrinkage cracking. The point being that Guiseppe, when saying that all structural walls are built out of concrete...

Chimney stack support not meeting todays building regs

Then he is a prat. When things are constructed, it's not with a view to being in accord with regulations 20 years hence! If it's standing there happily, then there is no reason for it to be redone.

    Cracks above downstairs window

    Agreed.

    Cracks above downstairs window

Yeh, but one can pick up the lower ones by drilling vertically up from the soffit and extending past the horizontal ones. In this instance, the window position would require its removal before doing the vertical ones. And, in answer to your comment re tying between leaves, helibar ties...

RSJ's are there new lighter, smaller, stronger ones ?

Nope the old RSJ/UB/UC/RSA/PFC sections are just as they were. There are other sizes available to, but as a complement to, not instead of, the old sizes.
