Were you being serious there jujubean, it's just that marbo seems to be sold by everybody, well, b&q & screwfix anyway. I read a comment about marbo a while ago & they said the make was rubbish. I wouldn't have thought they would be allowed to sell their stuff if they were dangerous, or really...

Ok, thanks for that. I misunderstood the link which said..... The green & blue zones were within 150mm of the top of a wall or within 150mm of a corner. But there were exceptions to this rule, one being vertically or horizontally from a socket, which is where I come in. I always believed...

Sorry Rf, I Should have given a bit more info. Your link states that you can run wiring horizontaly as long as it's buried 50mm below wall surface. What I'd like to know is, does that still apply if you are linking sockets in a ring main that are for example only a few millimetres apart. The...

I know you shouldn't run wiring across a room but is it ok if the sockets/fcu's are very close together? Also is Marbo an ok make, their prices are a canny bit less then the likes of Mk.

Hi all. Can someone please tell me the difference between type-B & type-C mcb's? Can the two types be mixed in the same CU? Thanks.

    Internal wall

Thanks, I'll do what you say & get in touch with my local bco. I was told that the local authority have plans for every house in their area which is why I thought they would have access to the house plan. I'm pretty ignorant on these matters, your info has been very helpful, thanks again.

    Internal wall

Will I have to give drawings of the house plan to the bco, or will they have access to a plan of the house which will be on record with the local council? Btw, thanks for those load calculations & help. it's appreciated.

    Internal wall

Ok, thanks Ossy. I've had a dig around this site & found that i need to inform the bco if the opening is over 1800mm. Birtley lintels have calculations for their lintels on their site so using their "lintel selector" I will choose one & put that to the bco & see what they say. The only thing...

    Internal wall

HI all. I'm after help & info about a wall I am thinking of removing in my house. The wall is between the lounge & the hall & I will be removing 8ft of it. It is block built & does not extend upstairs, it's a single storey wall. My problem is it has some of the upstairs floor joists resting...

Which gives the better performance, a surrey or an essex flange? Or is there no real difference?

    Shower pump

I've found an installation guide for a different make of pump & it more or less shows what I will be doing. I'll follow this setup & hopefully everything will be ok though I'm still not sure what flange to use. Is a techflange a type of Essex flange? All these flanges named after southern...

    Shower pump

I've found out that wickes pumps are made by watermill & the watermill site says this about siting the pump above the hot water cylinder...... "Note. If the pump is positioned above the outlet from the hot water cylinder; ensure the pipework to the pump from the cylinder has a downward loop...

    Shower pump

Hi all. I'm planning to install a twin impeller shower pump but have one problem. My heating system is fairly straightforward with a hot water cylinder in an upstairs airing cupboard, fed by a tank in the loft above the cylinder. This tank also supplies the cold water to the bathroom...
