    RCD spur trips whole house

I'm assuming you mean do I know the new rcd spur works. In answer to that no I dont, and I guess I wont until its too late. For now. I thinl I will replace it with a standard fuse spur and get my board updated sooner than I was going to. Thanks for all your comments, appreciated.

    RCD spur trips whole house

No, or certainly not that I'm aware of. My board could certainly do with updating and I will get round to it soon. I have a metal Wylex consumer unit with push button fuses. 3 x 30 amp for sockets, 2 x 5 amp for lighting and a 20a for the boiler. So working from this I guess the 3 x 30 amp...

    RCD spur trips whole house

That's what I was hoping to achieve but tripping the whole house, while annoying, is preferable to the missus being blown to pieces. Although some days I'm not so sure!

    RCD spur trips whole house

Thanks for all your input, it seems I have completely wasted my time in doing this. I do indeed have a test button on my consumer unit, which I had never even noticed before, so I will swap the rcd spur for a standard one. I had a sparky round a couple of months back to quote me for a new...

    RCD spur trips whole house

I purchased an RCD spur recently, this one http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Electrical/Extension+Leads+RCDs/SafetySure+RCD+Spur+Metalclad+1+Gang+13A+30mA/d190/sd2470/p11214 I have an outside socket that is used for the lawnmower/strimmer but it has always just been part of the ring main and...

No. One sky remote will work on all magic eyes.

Fitting a TV aerial + 4 TV Points.

Sorry to jump in to your thread but would you always advise a masthead amp as opposed to a simple booster box installed in the loft. Only ask because I have never used a masthead amp (although I have sky magic eye so I guess it'd be no good anyway) and am intrigued as to how good they are...

Quick question re black 13a socket

Hi, I am after 1 single 13a black switched socket. Bog standard plastic, nothing fancy. I have searched the net and the diy stores to no avail, only finding black nickel or ultra flat etc. Do any of you sparkies know of any wholesalers or web sites that sell such a thing. I'm sure I've...

    What size armoured cable

Yes there is already electric in the shed. The shed is attached to the utility which in turn is attached to the house. The shed lights currently run from a fused spur off the circuit in the shed. So 10mm is the way to go then, I wasn't sure if you could go 'too big' as it were. Thanks for...

    What size armoured cable

Hi, I am in the process of digging my drive up and would like to install an armoured mains cable while I am doing it. I won't be using it for a while but want to put it in while I have the opportunity. It will eventually be a dedicated circuit for a utility room and a shed that are already...

    Garage alarm

That's certainly different, she lives out in the country so i guess that would fit well lol. Anyway I have been recommended this one http://cpc.farnell.com/lynteck/ly52-000-33/alarm-kit-2-wire-ls400/dp/SR0747804?Ntt=SR074780 Seems to do everything we need but I am concerned about the...

    Toilet seat bracket

I have been tasked by my parents to find a toilet seat bracket to replace their existing one which is broken. I have supplied photos for you to have a look at and if anyone knows where I can get a set of these I would be very grateful. I have tried all the local DIY stores and plumbers...

    Garage alarm

My sister has a garage at the bottom of her garden and would like an alarm installing so if anyone gets in it sounds an alarm in the house (the garage is quite far away from the house, approx 35-40 metres away). She has an up and over door and a side door on the garage so I don't know...
