I am redecorating my kitchen ceiling and was wondering if there is a good way of covering up obvious lines where the plasterboard sections meet. The house is a semi built around 1937. The ceiling is sound but the surface is poor with some old flaking paint under the paper which I have just removed.

I am just about to fit a new kitchen and am starting at the top with the ceiling. It has old polystyrene coving at the moment and am not sure whether to replace the coving or do away with it completely. Is kitchen coving a thing of the past or is it still widely used? Without coving is it easy...
