    tree roots near proposed foundations!!

foundations proposed at 1000mm , probably trench fill. not sure if i will hit roots. who will best advise.... building control??? i've also hear that cutting down the tree won't help as tree roots will cause heave in soil. if i have to go deeper would it have to be all way round extension?

    cavity wall insulation

if a corgi reg engineer serviced your gas appliance and it required ventilation which it probably does, this should issue you a notice... depending on any other factors they could even disconnect your appliance. if it does require ventilation (open flued) it has obvioulsy been alright all...

    cavity wall insulation

open flued appliances require air vents. they use these vents to suck air into the appliance for combustion purposes. no vent means its sucking out the air from the room-hence leaving none for you . make sure the vents are not filled in when you have cavity wall insulation... jokin aside if they...

thanks guys that has helped especially the bit about bossing on the rodding access which could be inside built into a cupboard. do yoy think buildin control will require new manhole upstream , i don't see the point of having to put in a new one if i have rodding acess. its not as though the new...

    building over drains , manhole

good idea but too close to boundary. bobnuts suggested moving manhole along line and inserting roddin access to my svp. not sure where my roddin access would go though? soil pipe is internal in my kitchen at moment boxed in. would it mean cutting sv pipe and fitting socket with roddin access, if...

    building over drains , manhole

thats what i was hoping for mate. there is room to move the cover along the line of the drain, but the chamber is where my soil pipe joins the drain. i do not know whether the chamber can be moved or if it has to be where you have access to rod my soil pipe (no jokes).

    building over drains , manhole

thanks... i know what you are saying but i was concerned in that if i move the drains it will mean putting in 4 x 90 deg bends. this concerns me as it serves more than 1 porperty. who would be best to consult in thus matter, a groundworker???

    cavity wall insulation

be aware if you have any air bricks that are serving an open flued gas appliance. if they are old style airbricks they may not continue through the cavity hence they will fill up with the insulation when injected. this will then block the air coming through the air brick which could lead to...

    rendering retaining wall

thanks... i was going to put thick polythene behind wall unless you would advise otherwise and recommend another membrane type... i will use a mix of 3 sharp sand - 1 cement - 1 hydrated lime for the scratch coat and 5-1-1 for the top coat. its going to be on a curved wall i've built. i've...
