    Tile Adhesive on Shower Tray

Sorry Washboy. I disagree. I am sick and tired of going out to bodge tile jobs and cleaning up peoples messes. When talking to "experienced tile fixers" all they say is "Ive never had a complaint". If people dont ring them they dont know!! Sorry to rant on. Ty

Rebuilding shower including new tray & tiling

A tanking system can be bought from most of the tile retailers. BAL is probably the best tanking system as it is a single part system, therefore you dont mix your own. It is simply painting it on. If you speak to professional independent training techniques in Stoke on Trent they might tell you...

Rebuilding shower including new tray & tiling

Sorry the plaster behind the tiles. With a tanking system you lip it onto the shower tray eliminating any possible leaks from the tray or tile failures. Ty :)

Waterproofing plaster wall behind shower tiles

It takes 45 seconds for water to soak the back of a tile in a standard domestic shower by passing through the grout. Sorry to get so technical but this is how tiling has got to be. There are to many tiles falling off walls at the moment and causing serious injuries. Just been to a job where a 7...

Rebuilding shower including new tray & tiling

Sorry Zampa but is doesnt matter how much silicone you use the brown patches are because the a water proof membrane has not been used to protect the plaster. This has been talked about on another post. Mr creosote The plinth was rotten because the shower was not tanked. I would recommend...

Waterproofing plaster wall behind shower tiles

A swimming pool is tanked in its own right. Grout and adhesive is not wateproof but can be water resistant therfore the tiles wont fall off in the swimming pool. This is what people dont understand and this is why there are so many problems in peoples showers at home. Ty

Waterproofing plaster wall behind shower tiles

There is such a product. It is known by the professional tiler (not those who claim to be a tiler) as a tanking system. Grout will let water pass through and damage the plaster behind. The tanking stops this by forming a water proof membrane between the tile and the plaster. Most...

    Drilling porcelain tiles

I thought the original post was for porcelain tiles which do not have a glazed surface. Ceramic = Glazed surface = PITT Drill guide. Porcelain. The kit I use is called Armeg. £300 for the drill bits though. The other option is lots of drill bits. Ty :D

    where to start to tile

For a start I would never tile on paint. You may as well paint the back of the tile and stick it to the wall. Remove the paint or score it. With the floor you can either over lay with Ply 15mm or there is a product you can use which is a rubber based adhesive. Ty  P PITTSTOP...

    flexible

Your friend was right. How thick was the Ply? Most adhesive manufacturers have an add mix. Basically you use a standard grout and the add mix to increase flexibility. You can buy single part flexible grout which comes in a bag.

    How long before tiling?

Should be 4 weeks however due to the thin coat 2 should be ok. It is not just about the drying it is also the increase in bond strength of the plaster over time. Ty

    drilling a wall tile.

Drilling into a tile. If you look at www.tileforums.com they have mentioned a tool to help with drilling into tiles called a drill guide. I bought one 2 weeks ago. I cant fault it especially as it is so cheap. I tile professionally however I think it will benefit all. Just wish I had thought...

HELP! Filling large holes to then tile over / Grouting

With regards to the grout and mould. The mould will not grow on grout, what it does is grow on the fats from soap etc. The only way I am sorry to say is clean the joints regularly. Epoxy is the only water proof grout, all cement based grouts are only water resistant and are damaged by bleach...

    Tiling

Bruce Doesnt sound like you are to happy. 1. Have they used tile trim around the window? 2. Silicone should leave a nice neat finish. 3. Do you mean the size of the cut tiles differ. If so this would be due to the slope in your ceiling. As in your ceiling isnt level. Have a look...
