    Walk In Shower Reseal

Thanks John, it's a job I've been putting off for ages as I hate siliconing. So far it's taken me 2 afternoons to take the silicone off and still not finished. Definitely getting a mastic man in next time!

    Walk In Shower Reseal

Hi, currently taking the silicone off my walk in shower to reseal it and wondering if the bottom of the shower glass should be sealed on the inside? It was sealed by a mastic man when the house was built and he did seal the inside. I'm thinking that all the grime etc would get in under the glass...

    Walk in shower reseal

Hi, just a quick question. My walk in shower will be needing resealed soon and I'm wondering about the bit where the shower screen meets the metal wall profile. When the shower was first installed the inside was fully sealed including the bottom of the profile, water was leaking to the outside...

Thanks John - much appreciated as always. Have a great weekend!

    Kitchen extractor fan/ducting

Thanks John, that looks decent. Wish I'd known all this before everything was installed but never mind. Would you use aluminium ducting for that rather than the white flexi hose?

    Kitchen extractor fan/ducting

Should they have used one of those fancy neff ones - not sure what they're called but think they're meant for islands...

    Kitchen extractor fan/ducting

Thankfully we don't use the fan much as tend to open patio doors if there's a few pans on the go. My husband cooks & likes to watch the tv at the same time!

    Kitchen extractor fan/ducting

It's awful and very hard to know who to trust when you're getting work done

    Kitchen extractor fan/ducting

The scary thing is it was a kitchen fitter that installed it! You would think they would know better.

    Kitchen extractor fan/ducting

Hi, we have the following set up for our kitchen island - It's an Icon 60 fan and originally had white flexi ducting running through the loft to the soffit but the ducting was full of holes (from installation) and didn't fit properly as wrong size was used. My electrician replaced it with...

    Bath leaking from below

Thanks John, good to know for future reference. The string's a good idea. Be so much easier if the plumber had installed it and the taps at the side of the bath.

    Bath leaking from below

Morning John, thanks for your reply - hopefully he'll go down that route as it seems the easier option. Don't know why he didn't do that yesterday although he did say it was his last job of the day & I got the impression he was keen to get home! Regarding the overflow - if we had issues with it...

    Bath leaking from below

Hi, my bath has a leak from below (seems to be coming from the waste). When i felt round the washer just below the bath at the top of the trap it was wet & my hand was black off it. I had a plumber out from my home insurance home emergency cover. He tightened up the waste in the plug hole using...

Mould in bathroom extractor fan flexi ducting

Thanks John, I appreciate your response (as always!). I've got the fan set to run for an additional 20 mins so that sounds perfect. I really didn't fancy trying to change the ducting myself. Hope you're all good and thanks again

Mould in bathroom extractor fan flexi ducting

Thanks - I think it's just a build up of mould over the last 6 years since the house was built as the fan was replaced straight away after the old one conked out

Mould in bathroom extractor fan flexi ducting

I recently had my axial bathroom extractor fan replaced by an electrician but the flexi hose ducting wasn't replaced at the time (it's 6 years old). I've noticed it has black mould inside the ducting and just wondering if I should replace it myself? Other than the mould it's in good condition...
