    combi mixer shower advice needed

Yes, combi's don't work brilliantly when you have two taps open. Still produces the same amount of hot water but split between two open taps (well one tap one shower) so your flow in the shower will drop considerably. A pressure balanced shower fitted on a mains pressure c/w and dhw, and...

    combi mixer shower advice needed

Fair enough, but with a combi boiler I think you're screwed on that front regardless of which shower you go for. It will shut down if either hot or cold supply fails so again you shouldn't get a cold shot...

    combi mixer shower advice needed

Its not thermostatic, but it is pressure balanced which means you won't be scalded if someone opens a cold tap elsewhere in the house. i would recommend this shower.......

    Van security

Usually if you lock your car/van from the inside the deadlocks are disabled - its a safety feature  My folks 'H' reg cavalier had deadlocks so I would imagine your van would too.

    New Boiler - £4,000!!!

Try a bit of haggleing, I got a compete CH system (4 rads) in my 1 bed, top floor flat (flue via a pitched roof) with a worcester 24i junior combi boiler from BG for £4.2k ...... I did make the salesman fully aware I had had other quotes before he started which I think helped a bit.

    Mixer shower

You might find that the more efficient combi saves you more money than your son 'wastes' with his showering habits. Failing that switch the boiler off when he's had his allowed time in the shower, that'll shift him in a hurry

Replacing old boiler with combi in SURREY - ADVICE NEEDED!

    I think you've confused me with the OP...... And 2500+600 = 3100 + 17.5% = 3642.50 which leads to BG's quote being 15-16% over the independents, not 33%!

Replacing old boiler with combi in SURREY - ADVICE NEEDED!

I wouldn't be so hasty to write BG off. A couple of months ago I set about getting some quotes for a brand new CH system for my 1 bed flat (4 rads). I got quotes from two independants and two national co's - BG and Scottish Hydro. The independents came in at around £2.5k + VAT and 600+VAT for...

White hot water upstairs in basin

I know some modern taps deliberatly introduce some air into the flow to create the illusion that the flowrate is higher than it is and thus saves water. Very popular in hotels etc. Maybe you have one of these?

    Best quality radiators

Just out of curiosity, what are the better brands of radiators? I'm having new central heating put in soon and they are proposing to use Stelrad, which seem fine but I notice they are the same company that makes ideal boilers - which don't seem to have a good rep here!

    Recommend Shower for Combi DHW

Can anyone recommend a good shower for a combi hot water system? I notice some are sold specifically for Combi systems (eg Mira Combiforce 415?). Would a normal thermostatic mixer not work on a combi system? Any thoughts appreciated.

Whats behind a RW Firegem visa 2 deluxe

I have one of these things on my living room wall. As part of adding a new central heating system to the flat this fire is getting ripped out. Any experience out there of what size of hole I'm going to be left with?

    BG boiler replacement quote

I recently had a quote from BG to install a brand new ch system, w/b junior 24i, hard wired prog room stat, 4 rads, 3 trv's, magnaclean and vertical flue via a pitched roof. Its a third floor 1 bed flat......£4300. Not too bad I thought. Especially as a work collegue told me he had a boiler...

    Economy 10 Tariff electrical connections.

I managed to get economy 10 from scottish hydro only because the economy 7 meter wouldn't fit! The whole flat benefits from cheap rate at the off peak times, the meter just records kw's used on two different rates. By the looks of the meter though it can be set up to feed two cu's if required.

    LED downlights

I have some LED GU10's and I don't think they are any good for lighting a whole room, the colour is very cold, its almost like moonlight! Mine are 1.8W so maybe 2W would be better. TBH though its the colour more than the intensity thats the problem. On the plus side they cost peanuts to run...

    Plumbers physics?

Pressure at the bottom of the tank = density of water x g x height of the water. As previously mentioned, pressure is a function of the 'depth' of water not the volume, so it depends on the geometry of your tank. A tank with two tonnes of water (approx 2m3) spread out over an area such that...

    Engineers ha ha

I have to admit it really irritates me when people descibe themselves as engineers when they are clearly not. In the rest of Europe its illegal to call yourself an engineer unless you actually are. Same goes in Canada. No disrespect to plumbers etc but you ain't engineers.
