Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Thanks again for your informative posts, mate. I have decided to go for 25mm x 16mm trunking with the clip on lid as it's plenty for what I need it for - having bought a 2m length and tested it at home. I hear ya about not being able to add additional leads with connectors but given my needs...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Looking at the plans, the internal solid walls are 140mm deep, so I am expecting the external walls to be the same with the additional cavity and then final brickwork. If 140mm deep, then I should get away with a 23mm deep chase, right? I'll air on the side of caution though and go to 20mm. As...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Yeah, plaster straight on top of blocks. "another 10mm+ and you're close to weakening the wall." You know, I had thought about that, not because I'm an expert (I'm not) but just thinking about it logically, so I'm glad you've brought it up. I should have been clearer too, the chase will be...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

OK, I have worked it out. Blue = Spur (easy enough) White = HDMIs, Ethernet, coax White Box = White brush faceplate Orange Box = Fireplace I will chase along the horizontal white line, fit 38mm conduit with clip off cover. Install leads and bring them out freely behind the fireplace (no...

I wish! It would make the job so much easier. It's solid walls in the room.

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Is that a newly plastered wall? - New build. Is this ground floor or upstairs, and are you certain about the existing wiring going up from the sockets? - Sitting room in a house. It's an informed guess to be honest, but I will be removing the faceplates to check for cable direction before...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Thanks. I was thinking of using at least 38mm trunking with the removable cover that can be clipped on and off to allow the placement of HDMIs etc. Obviously the issue with this is that once in situ they cannot be removed without cutting the ends off and pulling the cable through. But it's...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

That's a gable wall. However, I have worked it out. I can use the fire (yellow) and make the angles behind it. So I can chase the wall horizontally to behind the fire and run the cables inside conduit. Bring them out behind the fire and then back into conduit again up to behind the TV and out...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Hi Guys, Looking for some advice on routing wiring/leads for a TV on a solid wall installation (see image). I will be chasing the walls and using conduit. The reason I cannot fit a media wall is due to the location of the radiator (and also I don't particularly want such a feature). Red =...

How to add a ceiling light to a loop system?

I had wondered if that was doable but as this is not my field, I was skeptical and thought it too silly to ask. Thanks Taylor.

How to add a ceiling light to a loop system?

Thanks for that. Is it safe for another brown wire to share the same switched live terminal screw?

How to add a ceiling light to a loop system?

Thanks for the reply. So the rose in the picture is in the attic and the light switch is in the landing below. My guess is the wiring runs under the floorboards in the attic then up under the roof insulation to the rose. What if I did away with the rose and just used Wagos? 2x 3 ports for...

How to add a ceiling light to a loop system?

Hi guys, I have a single ceiling light in the attic which I believe to be the end of the loop? If I wanted to add another light in the attic, how can I take a feed from this rose? With basic understanding of electrics I gather that the rose has a live, neutral and earth coming from the...

    Wago Fittings Question

Your advice worked a treat today Pete. Thanks. Have another one for you that whilst I got it working today, did baffle me a bit. It was an old lighting that had 2 separate earths and 3 wires coming from it. Of the 3 wires there was obviously a live and a neutral and I assume a 3rd earth? As...

    Wago Fittings Question

Thanks a million Pete. I'm not at the house now and won't be until Tuesday, but I will report back and if not, I've blown myself up! (haha joking).

    Wago Fittings Question

Hey guys, Two ceiling roses are wired as per picture. If replacing them with a ceiling light can someone explain to me how I can do this using Wago connectors? At my disposal I have 3-way connectors but can nip to Screwfix if need others. Thanks.

Blown Worktop or Just Too Tight?

I *think so* because I recall him mentioning them, but I don't know for sure.

Blown Worktop or Just Too Tight?

You have me thinking about causation when you mentioned a kettle. I placed a PerfectDraft beer dispenser/cooler over that joint during Christmas and I wondering if the heat from it caused the issue? Just guesswork at this point and not really relevant as the damage is done.
