Remove steel beam welding, which trade?

Thanks Joh and Woody! Approx landing size will be 1m x 1m. What kind of timber would be good? Something like this - http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Exterior-Grade-Joist-47-x-150mm-x-3m/p/101318 or http://www.diy.com/departments/timber-sawn-treated-t47mm-w100mm-l2400mm-pack-of-4/570348_BQ.prd#...

Remove steel beam welding, which trade?

Thanks woody. This is what we will need to do. But the beams have no pre drilled holes. How do I drill holes in the beam? Is it structurally allowed? BTW I have managed to put some good images... in case it helps.

Remove steel beam welding, which trade?

Thanks, I will look. Can I ask how is the timber attached to the beam? We have no flange/web for the timber to rest unless we drill into the beam. The beam is flush on the stairs side.

Remove steel beam welding, which trade?

Managed some pictures. Here they are. Both sides of the wood stair trade(orange) are two beams. Stair trade perpendicular to the beams. As you can see the beams, top of stair tread, left one is flush with wall and second appears like a skirting. No flange on the stairs side. Black and yellow...

Remove steel beam welding, which trade?

Incase this picture makes it clearer. The beams are parallel like this picture but shape of both beams like previous picture. In between two beams something is bolted here. Instead of bolting we have welded stairs between two beams. There is no top flange for both the beams and the web/bottom...

Remove steel beam welding, which trade?

Thanks John. Sorry I can't transfer my photos. I will try to use online images and explain. We have no web/flange available to use. The stairs are welded to two beams of this shape parallel to each other, if that makes any sense. I don't know the right words but the floor joists rest on the...

    High gloss vinyl, laminate flooring?

Hi All, wanted to know if there is anything as high gloss vinyl or laminate flooring? I do no want to use textured vinyl/laminate because: 1) it is a dirt trap and 2) I want to achieve polished tile/marble/concrete type effect. I do not want to use tiles because of the labour involved. Any pros...

Remove steel beam welding, which trade?

Hi All, previous owners have welded a 2m landing, metal and wood stairs, to steel beams(not I beams, angled beams). To fit a replacement straight flight we need to remove the welded stairs, reduce landing length to 1m and fit new stairs. Which trade will do this? And, any idea if there are joist...

Closing off stairwell between two beams

We are planning to relocate our stairs as current location is very awkward. New location will be parallel to joists so should be much of an issue. Current stairwell, 2 up 2 down house, is between two bedrooms with no supporting walls underneath. It seems there are two angle beams on which the...

OSB3 vs Ply vs floor boards - Please help!!!

Thank you for all the answers and links. Vinyl may be more practical than birch ply and softwood floorboards, especially with children's room. A glass of milk, water from colouring projects on the floor is a recurring event in my house. Also there are services under the floor so access will be...

Any supplier Link to: 1) T&G floor boards? 2) 22mm Ply I thought WBP ply will have good moisture resistant. Is that not the case? Is it possible to get the smooth reflective flooring like floor boards (planed wood?) with Ply? And how?
