2.5mm sq twin and earth cable?

Got one more quote Today. £400 for 5 points and £400 for fuse box upgrade. Varies a lot. My question is do I have to put in an RCD right now to have the 5 points? I know the safety issues and I really want an RCD protection but can I tie it with fuse box upgrade for a later date when SSE moves...

2.5mm sq twin and earth cable?

Going more into electrics I think this will now become the main project if I want to do it ideally. As I understand jobs and quotes are: 1. Install 5 points in the bedroom + RCD at the fuse box (no fuse box upgrade) approx £450 2. Install 5 points + RCD + fuse box upgrade (he said...

2.5mm sq twin and earth cable?

Thank you for all your answers. No, I don't want to DIY this job. My problem is the 4 out of 5 electricians I contacted were busy till January and I need to finish off insulating and plaster boarding my room soon so we can move out of my child's room. It is very cold as it is down to bare brick...

2.5mm sq twin and earth cable?

Yes you are right. Wall will not be plastered soon so there is a good chance sparky will arrive before that. My only worry is he may not have full access from top of the ceiling as this is an extension bit which does not connect very well to the main loft space. But he can pull the wire from...

2.5mm sq twin and earth cable?

Hi all, with your help I have attempted DIY plastering. Got the 120x60cm boards and started insulating and boarding the ceiling. I need to to leave cables for 4 sockets and 1 pendant light. My plan is to have little holes in the plasterboard and pull the cables through it. When Sparky arrives he...

Cellotex over, under or between joists

Thank you so much for your advice. I will add knauf 100m eko roll from b&Q as base layer in between the ceiling joists as I plaster board. The top it with another 170mm top up roll. I suppose I don't need to bother about vapour barrier because my house has air bricks and the materials are pretty...

Cellotex over, under or between joists

Thanks GTH. I am thinking of: 1) screwing a standard 12.5mm plasterboard to the flat joist 2) put rock wool over the 12.5mm plasterboard, in between joists as I board. As my joists are only 100m deep can i still use 300mm rock wool? 3) do i need to cover rock wool with anything on top? 4)...

Cellotex over, under or between joists

First of all thank you so much for your advice. You are a godsend. You will help me save £££s and also the bully plasterer that we were planning to hire. I will still have access to the space above but a crawling space. If this helps, this is a rear bedroom of a 2up 2down Victorian mid terraced...

Cellotex over, under or between joists

This is for a first floor bedroom ceiling with pitched roof and two external walls. Currently it is all open upto the roof. There are ceiling joists but no ceiling at all. Previous broken fake ceiling is completely removed. I bought the Small 45cm x 120cm cellotex boards as that is the size I...

Cellotex over, under or between joists

I am planning to use 50mm Cellotex insulation boards in between ceiling joists and then 12.5mm plasterboard. IIRC BCO mentioned something about fibre glass. Can't remember if it was for roof or ceiling in addition to 50mm cellotex. Questions: 1. I do not plan to use loft space at all. Should I...

    Plaster Allergy, Alternatives please

Thank you for all the tips. They are mixing inside and have kept all the bags inside, upstairs. Should I insist on doing the mixing outside? Is it a normal practice. They had to sand down because some electrics were done later so there was filling and blending.
