    This is a common question, and the answer is cut(or remove) the plug and hard wire by all means. Otherwise how do you think the wire is run through a hole in the worktop? :D

    Take one feed from the existing ceiling rose as mentioned and daisy chain the spots on that circuit, then repeat with the other set. There is room in the connections for this.

    You can re-use the handle, BUT it will not lock. You can also get new handles at Wicks.

    Some lights do have a transformer feeding more than one, but some have their own tranny. The transformer should come down the hole after removing the light fitting.

    Before i changed jobs i did the passport to safety course but still had to do the site induction courses by the customer. In fact i ended up with several cards for different sites for the same customer. As advised, find out what the agreement was between your boss and the customer.

    Make sure the switch on your fusebox is OFF! The circuit will only be LIVE during the off peak times. Remove the cover plates and disconnect the outgoing cable to your heaters and refit the cover plates.

    As secure says, it is not uncommon for different makes to reverse the "IN" and "OUT" sides of the switch.Also known as FEED and LOAD.

    If your CU has a RCD there is a TEST button NOT a reset button. You need to make sure that is on. If using your tile cutter has caused the fault then make sure it is unplugged first.
