Backfilling: If you have a downstairs MIXER tap. Open your hot on full and put your thumb over the spout... then slowly turn the cold on (still with your thumb over the spout) and let the cold mains push down the hot. You might get a little wet.. hope you got strong thumbs. Take care.

what inhibitor did you put in?

have you tried to just tighten the nut? if that don't work you have to drain the system down and replace. lots of info on how to do this on the site.

Combi is mains pressured. You can not have power showers with combi boilers because they require a pump and you are not allowed a pump on a mains supply due to water regs n back flow etc. Hence why only certain showers are acceptable for combis.

How about an electric shower?

depends on the tap but you will probaly need a tap insert. go into your local merchants and give them the name of your tap and see if they can order you in a tap insert.

at a youth club there is a boiler.. (obv!) lol. and it seems it turns itself on 9oclock everyday whether on constant, or the room stat is turned completely up etc. it just cuts off. and then the reset button has to be pressed in to fire it up again. has this been purposely wired in like this...

its not an air lock if you have hot water elsewhere. its your tap washer or tap insert. simple enough job.

Yes, they must be replaced with a condensing boiler. Yes, you do need a thermostat on the wall (but "NO" TRV in the same room)

What you need to do is have 2 bungs and bung up the feed from the small F+E tank and the vent pipe. Then pull your carpet back, quickly wip your old valve off and change it. Sit back and admire ;)

What would you use then? Remembering you will have to isolate the mains cold and drain the exsisting water out of the pipe so it don't freeze?

after you have teed of the mains feed all you need after it is a mini valve and then in the winter close the mini valve and drain the water through the outside tap itself to avoid freezing pipes. and with check valves built in the tap you'll find they will block eventually and you will just...

No need to go in the loft. Just put your thumb over the tap if you can hold the water it is tank fed and if you cant and it spirts out its mains. My guess is it will be tank fed and you will have a dirty tank, which will need cleaning out.
