I’m not disagreeing with you and the costs involved. But 100+vat x 3 sensors plus the annual service at the same time. Bit much

Let’s see what my installer says. He’s supposed to be servicing it next week. Wanted to charge me £100+vat to replace a shock sensor. Straight swap as I removed it because we were having building works done. Madness!

so each zone has two terminals on the panel. am i plugging the wire into the left or right terminal?

Cool. Ok, so on the panel, how do I wire that then, each zone will only have one wire from the SC. What do I put in the other terminal?

So then on the panel, I need 1 zone for the shock and 1 zone for the contact? Or do they go into the same zone?

I can get some cable, that’s not a problem. How would the wiring work though? I can’t run a new cable from the door to the panel.

so, its on the front door. I would like the shock and contact to work - its the entry/exit trigger for the alarm - i'm replacing an existing AEA shock with magnetic reed that was wired in in serial. i only have a 4 core available - 2 cores are wired into the panel as zone 1 - marked as...

This is good news, but do you have 4 cores running into the SC….that’s my issue. The installer only ran a 4 core cable to the door. Every other cable is 6 core.

i spoke with texecom and they've said that i need another two cores to be screwed into the mag terminals on the impaq and then terminated into a seperate zone on the panel.......its impossible to run a new cable without taking up quite a few carpets and floorboards.....guess im going to have to...

This is what is confusing me from the instructions - 'Note: The shock and contact functions must be wired as two separate zones in the panel.' If the cable is only 4 core (2 for power and 2 for shock), what do wire into the mag terminals?

Yes - That’s how the installer did it. The system is 10 years old.
