Advice needed: Attach plastic shims to joists?

For my outside decking have joists sitting on slabs. Need some spacers to get peefect fall and height. What is the best way to stick plastic spacers to underside of the joists so they don't move over time? Could gaffer tape them but guessing that could detiorate.

Stick felt to plastic, 'sticks like *' not working

My rattan furniture has plastic shoes which keep scratching the patio, I tried cutting up some rubber tyre with 'sticks like *', that lasted a couple of days, now got some felt which looks better and can slide furniture around, again used 'sticks like *', has lasted a month but now falling off...

    Powering LED Strip

OK, need to buy one then.

    Powering LED Strip

Ah, in that case I have an unused HP laptop 18.5V, 3.5A PSU lying around! I assumed if you send in 18.5V, it would output 18.5V, my led strip requires 12v. Thanks for your help.

    Powering LED Strip

So as we discussed then a 2.5A 12V PSU like a laptop one. I was just struggling to see why all the led web sites are pushing the LED driver (transformer/psu) like the one pictured above, and all the ebay ones are pushing the laptop style psu brick. Therefore I thought the laptop style brick may...

    Powering LED Strip

This is what I mean by led driver (LED power supply). Just an example from the net.

    Powering LED Strip

? The LED driver is doing the AC to DC. I thought that was the point to get constant voltage as required by the LED strip. It means I can have wall -> led driver -> led strip light. or wall -> led driver -> led controller -> led strip light. The led controller requires 12-24 VDC.

    Powering LED Strip

Say I use a 2.5A 12V DC PSU (laptop style brick). I assume this is offering constant voltage. My LED controller (as I just checked) has these specs: Type PWM, Constant Voltage DC Power 12-24VDC, Output 3A x 3 Channel, 36W x 3, Watts 12VDC - 108 Watts My LED strip is dimmable. I was just...

    Powering LED Strip

Few, was confused for a minute. So to be clear, a non-dimmable (constant voltage) led driver is ok as it is the controller varying the PWM and keeping the same 12v DC voltage supplied to the LED strip?

    Powering LED Strip

The led strip has single colour Epistar SMD3528 chips and is dimmable. Are you saying the way the leds are dimmed is by varying the voltage? Is it not the case the controller takes the constant voltage as input but then outputs a variable voltage?

    Powering LED Strip

stillp, ok, thanks, so need about 2.5A psu then, but should I get a psu brick or one or the dedicated led driver blocks?

    Powering LED Strip

Am just wanting to make sure I understand this right as I am a hobbyist but not an electrician! I have 5m 12v 4.8w p/m led strip light. I want to be able to dimm this so my set-up will be: wall -> led driver -> led controller -> led strip light. 1, I need an led driver that can handle 5 x...

Is there a smart heating system for me? WITH PICS!

OK, my fault - badly phrased question.... Is there a simple energy solution that does not need wiring in to the boiler? i.e. by adding some form of power can just use the two wires to create a circuit. At the end of the day all I want this thing to do is turn heating on and off. But if I...

Is there a smart heating system for me? WITH PICS!

Hi, I replaced an honeywell analogue thermostat some years ago with a Danfoss TP75 programmable thermostat. This uses 2 batteries and has just two of the three wires connected, 'common' plus 'heat on'. Making the connection requests my system to call for hot water to be pumped to the rads...
