    Is it a 1" bsp male or female thread you are trying to reduce ? If its female you can buy a reducing bush at plumbers merchants to take you down to 1/2" bsp .Which should suit the male thread on your shower head or if female shower head fit a 1/2" x1"" nipple .Hope you understand this.

    could poss be A water level in cistern to low B your syphon is at fault either a split diaphram washer or a split in your syphon OR if its one that has a nut to disasemble the syphon it may be loose C canny think of a C !!!!!!!!!!

    Yes can be .no are noisy i replaced one just the other week the sponge like float valve inside has a habit of sticking .     only reduce the flow by nipping back valve ,pressure remains constant. Thats why we had to go to and still do at great expense to college which is reflected in our invoices.

    U got the washer fitted right? Goes inside cistern ,tighten up by hand 1st to ensure its sitting in the middle.Some times you can have a wee bit tension on the supply pipe putting a strain on the body .Tighten up bottom nut before you attach supply pipe.failing that put a bucket underneath!!!!!!!

    If constructed right should be ok as long as the membrane and tiles are laid /fitted properly. Would not go for it myself though as i live in a bungalow!!!!!!!!!

    they are prone to crack coz years ago hole saws were scarce and expensive so the inovative plumber would heat up a length o pipe to form the hole which hardened the polythene resulting in a weak spot [ just thought you would like to know!]
